I was wondering how many of you follow european football, (soccer), and if there are any predictions for the upcomming tourney.

My gut says Germany, but my heart yells Croatia.

I guess that all european habs-fans follows the Euro 2004 in Portugal.

Soccer or fotball as we say are the biggest sport in our part of the world.

I don't think that Germany will win. But they have the gift to always play well in the big tournaments. But Germany doesn't have the big stars anymore and they have plenty of problems. In the qualify they didn't even handle Iceland...

Croatia? Why? Are you a native or do you just like to colors? ( Blue´, blanc & rouge)

Personly I will cheer for Sweden. And things have been looking good to us latley. But. There's one team that is better than all other. France. They have it all.

Italy is also looking good. But also look out for Spain, Portugal and Czech Republic.

My Heart screams Croatia, beacuse, well, I am Croatian. It is because of that that I chose the Canadiens as my hockey team, since I was 5, and well they are simply the greatest hockey team in the world. Germany always seem to do well in major tournaments, they are like a machine, lacking superstar talent, but able to do damage (world cup '02). Spain always seem to fall apart in the big events. I agree that France is the team to beat, but you never know who is going to show up and prove otherwise. I like the Dutch chances, if only they can play as a team. As for England.....they are like the N.Y. Rangers, all the talent you could want, but unable to put it into the five hole  We've got a very large pool going on over here, this side of the pond, with alot of $$ involved.

Exact, what do you mean by that?

Anyways, I don't agree with you about England. They're a big hype and they have them self to blame. England has never won a world championship. The only thing England has ever done is that they won their own euro '66.

Aside from Beckham, wich international star more have they got? Maybe Sol Campell and Michael Owen, but I think there's many more teams in Europe that have the same amont of talent.

Netherland never seems to go all the way, they have the best forwards in the world but only one really good midfielder. And their latest games has been really poor.

Go Sweden!

Greece stuns Portugal early in the tournament with a 2-1 win...

Portugal's Mike Ribeiro throws himself head first onto the field... Just kidding, its Cristiano Ronaldo... Hey I'm Ron McLean! :eyes:

Russia and Spain are scoreless after the first half of play, Spain has been carrying the play so far.

5-0.

I did almost had a tear... So beautiful. Did anyone of you saw Erik Edmans sprint on the left and then a hard inner-curved ball to Larsson?

I didn't know that Euro was even a topic in Northern America. How close do you follow?

So you think Larsson are the best stiker? Cool. I like Zlatan more tough...

Best the best striker in the tournament should be Henry. That's a pure goals scorer. And best of them all? Totti...

Germany - Netherlands is about to begin. I think it will end in a tie. Both teams are to good to lose. Maybe the Dutch have better players, but Germany are always two step betters when tournaments are on.

I follow it fairly closely, same with the World Cup tournies. We dont get much coverage of the sport over here except for the Euro/World-Cup tournaments, and I always end up watching them...

Same here...

P.S. Gotta say Totti was far from impressive, from that one match it's hard to believe he's the best out there.

Well, the Danes did it just right. They used Italys only weakness. They managed to turn off Italys play by playing tough in the inner midfield. Totti is still the best but he can't be stronger than three danes.

I was impressed by Ballack tonight. Netherlands may have a more talanted team, but I swear that Germany will do better.

Portugal have a really tough game tomorrow...

I too live, eat, sleep and breathe for footbal (soccer). As well as my wife  and the Montreal Canadiens :ghg: .

It has been an interesting outcome after the opening round matches thus far.

Croatia continues to dissappoint as they still play to the ability of their opponents. I expect a loss to France and they had better win against England or else :wall::wall::wall: .

Sweden by far is the most impressive especially the triumphant return of Larsson, what an incredible goal.

Zidane is the player we all expected him to be, simply amazing.

Portugal could be in some trouble as well as Italy (already blaming the sock and the shoes, http://www.tsn.ca/tsn/news_story.asp?id=87712 ), however I expect Italy to just manage to go through somehow.

Should be interesting in what transpires for the final matches, there will defenitely be some desperate matches in the end for teams to go through to the quarters.

great match between Croatia and France from what i saw (2nd half) The French got really lucky with one own goal and another controversial one (hand ball?)

Good job by Croatia to take a point, that match between them and England is going to be very interesting now.

I think France stole a game from Croatia there... definitely a hand ball the way I saw it, and I think Trezeguet knew it!

Oh well, I kind of feel for Croatia cause they're about to get steamrolled by my England team on Monday. There'll be no more choking from Scholes and Co. :)

It hasn't been mentioned yet, but Wayne Rooney looked real good today with 2 goals, becoming the youngest player ever to score at the Euros. He should be a superstar in a few years.

I'm also cheering for England btw, but only because Ireland didn't make it in.
