Could backfire very quickly as two 1st round picks were given to get Manziel.

And they already don't have their 2019 1st rounder either as it was used in the Supplemental Draft.  There's a narrow window where this could work for Montreal.  He needs to be good but not too good at the same time.  If he thrives, he'll look to go back to the NFL.  If he struggles, he's a very expensive gamble.  It's not like the other two players they picked up really move the needle either - they'll have to use a non-import spot on the offensive line now and while they had some ratio flexibility, they lost a big part of it by including Westerman in the deal.

Well, that debut was a memorable one for all the wrong reasons.  Hopefully, ownership won't be interfering with lineup composition anymore (there's no way an experienced coach would put a new QB in after four practices - this felt like a PR stunt to sell tickets above all else).

Just when things couldn't look any worse in Montreal with a potential owner pulling out over the Commissioner wanting to force Danny Maciocia on him with a 10-year contract, now the Als have fired Mike Sherman amidst reports of a mutiny around the team.  Khari Jones, the underwhelming offensive coordinator, takes over on an interim basis, presumably until an ownership group that's willing to work with Maciocia gets a deal done to buy the team.

It has been an eventful first six weeks or so of the season.  I don't mind Reed getting let go.  I will mind if Maciocia (who struggled badly as a GM) winds up being the replacement.  This cap circumvention scheme is a little worrisome though in terms of potential repercussions.  They already are out another couple of first rounders - if this winds up being serious, how many more are they going to lose.

What.  A.  Comeback.  Down 24 in the 4th quarter, the Alouettes pull off the 38-37 victory with Adams Jr. just heaving up throw after throw.  The defence basically quit in the first half and then stepped it up big time in the second half.  This has certainly been a more entertaining season thus far.

Tough loss today to end their postseason in a hurry.  The defence really let them down in this one as they couldn't get to Harris until the fourth quarter and by then, they were in trouble.  Here's hoping the ownership situation gets resolved in a hurry and Jones gets a contract extension (he earned it with a strong first year as head coach) instead of having Danny Maciocia forced upon them by the commissioner.

James Wilder Jr. is now with Montréal.

They will probably bring at least another proven RB  to the training camp and create a competition.

They'll bring another RB or two but I don't know how proven they'll be.  They gave Adams Jr. a huge raise for this season which takes a good chunk of their payroll flexibility away.  It's also usually one of the easier spots to try to fill with undrafted/unproven guys.

James Wilder is now retired ... might be. little hard to recruit another RB or two until the details of whether or not there will be a season are resolved

Well that was a short-lived tenure.  The good news is that import RB's don't seem to be that tough to find.  I'm also not sure they'll get this season off anyway.  The bubble city format probably isn't going to work and how many players are going to be willing to come up to play for 2-3 months at half their salary or less?  For guys making the minimum, are they making the trek over and being separated from their families for $25,000?  Some of them probably have another job at this point (construction is something a lot of guys do in the offseasons), they might be better off just doing that for the rest of the year.  They'd get less money but would stay with their families at least.

Trevor Harris is now a Montreal Alouette.  I wouldn't have seen that coming a few weeks ago but his surprising benching in Edmonton and Adams Jr. being done for the season has made for an interesting match.  He's certainly on the downswing of his career but Montreal's offence will look a bit different once he takes over.

Good news - the Alouettes have new ownership.  Bad news - Danny Maciocia is GM.

Well, it took more than two years for Maciocia to name himself as the head coach.  Admittedly, that's longer than I expected but Khari Jones deserved a better fate.  If Cote doesn't miss a 20-year chip shot, they're 2-2.  They nearly beat Calgary on the road.  They have, what, eight or nine starters missing?  But sure, the coach is the problem.

Here's hoping Maciocia learned how to coach once he left Edmonton as he wasn't much of a coach then.  And Noel Thorpe wasn't a great defensive coordinator either but he's buddies with Maciocia so he's back as well.
