A thought for Carbo

I am sure though that none of this would have been possible without a new owner who had no ties to any of the UFAs. Bob was left alone to do what he wanted.

And he fired all the players who had quit on him and Carbo.

Yep, for sure. I agree that all this was made possible by Gillet selling the majority of his shares of the Habs to the Moslon family. It definitely sounded like Koivu had too much pull with Gillet.

Try to look back just once, since 1995 Koivu worked hard every year for this team! And what he gets, stupid ungreatful fans whining about that he is unselfish and was he is THE reason why Habs haven't won cup since -93! Come on!!!!!!!! Biggest reason Habs haven't won anything for years is that nobody, who is a big name, wants to play in Montreal, why? 'Cause fans and press! Look at Vinny, why don't he come to his home town and rescue Habs and make Habs new Dynasty of NHL, he do not want to, easier to play in Tampa....... no stupid fans and press....no fans at all.... :P All I'm asking for you guys have some respect, Saku Koivu REALLY deserves it....

(sry for my english, I speak it better than write it)

I am grateful for all Saku did. My worst memory as a Habs fan was when Saku in Chicago skated into a line in the ice and ed his knee. He was the NHL leading scorer at the time. The rest is history: injuries after injuries and on top of that, huge battle over cancer. He was an incredible inspiration. He had to battle extremely hard and when he came back he continued playing his way, with all his heart. In spite of all that, it looks like he hasn't been able to rally players behind him. I was not in the locker room, so I cannot tell. It's time to move on now, for the Habs and for Saku.

I would not be surprise at all that next year a free Saku (free of Montreal) has a career year. He still has good seasons in the tank, and with a better environment will have success. Good luck Saku!

Carbo was not the problem. Bob took over the team and apparently saw 1st hand why Carbo said he had not ideas left as to what to do with these guys. In hind sight he should have kept Carbo given him all his support and traded the whole bunch away for picks at the deadline. But Bob being Bob he gave them another (number 12 2nd chance) they proceded to play like a bunch of losers and accomplished nothing after Carbo was fired managing to tie 1 game to squeak (SQUEAK) into the playoffs. So Bob who had to fire his good friend of 30 years was completely sandbagged and treated like shit by this group of loser's. Now they are gone. The King is dead long live the King. Insert Captain for the King.

So Bob dumped Carboneau and then 3 months later he replaces the core. From this we are supposed to conclude that the players he let go were a cancer in the dressing room and the reason we haven't won the cup during the last 5 years???

Why doesn't Bob's firing Carboneau first prove he was the worst offender???

To me, Bob fired Carbo because the team was playing terribly. Much worse then their skill level indicated they should. He let the players go because he felt it was time to go in a new direction. That doesn't mean the players had a bad attitude. Just as it doesn't mean Carbo had a bad attitude.

Oh man KoZus, so stupid, so stupid. How can you know these things, who is cancer to the Habs or who isn't? Koivu served us well, ok, I think so too that it was his time to go, BUT plz, have some respect to our ex-captain! Man, he is true leader and puts his team ahead of him always. I have met him couple of times and I really respect him as a player and a person too! Come on what the hell is wrong with you Habs fans?

It was Kovy who was "suspended" in middle of a season.....if you can remember.... anyhow, thanks to him as well.

Thanks for the years Saku! Respect!

Greetings from sunny Finland!

:hlogo:

Holy crap, havent been called KoZus since forever.

Anyways FinHab, you arent saying anything we haven't heard a thousand times before about Koivu. But the ad didnt match the merchandise anymore. ("Tout dans vitrine, rien dans le magasin"). Sad but true.

Players quitting this past season or no, what I can say is this: there was no appreciable difference between the season where Carbo took the team to 1st OA in the East defensively, and the one that barely made it this past season. Therefore, my thought for Carbo is this:

I think you have the potential to be an excellent coach, but you need to learn communication skills and you need to either learn how to coach a defensive system, or hire an assistant who does. Your teams look like headless chickens whether they're winning or losing. When you have the firepower and everyone is playing to potential, you outscore opponents. When those players slump/give up on you/whatever, you lose.

Oh, and when things aren't going well for you, don't throw up your hands and admit defeat. That makes you look like a loser and ANY competent GM will fire you within a very short period. Regardless of how others are acting around you, it gives you no cause to act unprofessionally yourself. No matter what anyone says, YOU are the leader of the team as coach. It's up to YOU to maintain that professionalism for yourself. Throwing your hands in disgust was unprofessional and weak.

PS. I was always a fan of yours and I will be when you find your next job. I say this because some people on these boards feel that when you criticize, even constructively, it means you're bashing. I'm not bashing, just making points, Carbo.

PPS. I will continue to call you Carbo on the boards even though we aren't best friends, bosom buddies, or teammates. I hope you won't beat me to a pulp if you see me in a back alley. It's just much easier typing the short form than typing Carbonneau all the time. Even misspelt. (i.e. Carbon Water)

PPPS. When you make it back to the NHL, you need to grow a porn moustache. I think it would really suit you.

This post is right on the money. The only thing I disagree with is the PPPS.
