stjrandy
I can't see the Habs trading Grabovsky before they even get to see him play a few shifts in a preseason game. Mike Green to me is a Mike WHO? The rumour is BS as far as I'm concerned. The kid might be our Zetterburg or Fedorov in waiting for all we know. We aren't sure what we will get with him but we do know that he has dominated at some tournaments last year that feature some of the best players in the world. This guy has some serious speed and his skill level will force the Habs management into keeping him in the lineup after camp. I love the potential Kostitsyn has but Grabovsky has really put it all together in the last few years where Kostitsyn has about a year to go. Grabovsky for Calder!! The-Habby2919
Hey, I was wondering if somebody from Montreal could get a handle on this. I just read on Spectors Mailbag that Dazes back was 100% and the Habs would have "all to gain and nothing to lose" from signing him to an incentive laden contract. :hlogo:

I just don't see it happen
fromage
We're not that deep in centre. We do need a large forward to get into position and bang garbage in.
Sir_Boagalott
yeah we have something to lose: time dazé IMO is a finished player a he would take one of our young prospects, roster spot. I just don't see it happen The Habs have somethig to save too: $ Daze is only 31, and if he's been able to rehab himself with all the time he's missed then he could once again be 1 of the top scorers in the NHL. There's no player in their organization that could pull that off, except Daze. What if Ryder's been asleep the last 2 yrs, and gets 50 goals, Ryder makes 3 mil/yr this year, just imagine what Ryder would want if he gets 50 goals. Daze will be paid doughnuts to dollars. I can just picture Bob saying "Oh, another hat trick Daze, here's another 39 day olds, thanks for comming out" Like I said previously, even if Daze plays every game this season, he still qualifies for a performance contract next year too. If Daze gets injured right away, send him down, then a 2 yr contract would only cost $150K. The Habs prospects dont have the potential Daze does, or the financial benifits either. Not to mention, Daze is a long time habs fan, he's French, and from Montreal. If the Habs take Daze this year, and he gets 40+ goals, and the Habs win the Cup, he'll be a hero. :king: It could happen. B) If it wasnt for all those meddling kids. johnnyhasbeen
IF Daze can play, it would be a no brainer to give him Ribs spot, even though I feel Ribs will do well this year with Kovalev and Samsonov, I am sure a healthy Daze would kill on the same line. Problem would be if he got injured and we had let Ribs go, who takes the 2nd line? Risky, but would save money and pay off huge if he stayed healthy. Guess you could make him 4th center and PP specialist. Kovalev and Sourey/Markov anchor Koivu, Daze, Ryder/Samsonov. Scary stuff. Takes the preasure off the kids too. Koivu Ryder Higgins Ribs Kovalev Samsonov Bonk Begin Johnson Daze Perez Kost/Plek WORKS FOR ME BOB !!! Plekanec earned a 3rd liner job for sure if anything he can be second line material hes fast and has moves and can score. Perezhogin should play top 2 lines i say as how els he goin to develop, and since the 3rd line looks like a more scoring line also why not put kost on the 3rd? Athlétique.Canadien
If Daze is good to go and not a risk why is he still in limbo? There are 29 other clubs in the League. The-Habby2919
A little off topic but a rumour non the less.... Rafalski to Edmonton to help sooth New Jerseys Cap woes. One guess as to who that came from.
Sir_Boagalott
If Daze is good to go and not a risk why is he still in limbo? There are 29 other clubs in the League. umm, because its a rumour? If Daze is 100%, then its not publically known, or we'd all know it as factual. Besides, Daze is from Montreal and wants to be a habs, so if you were him, what team would you want to play for? What team do you think has some insider info? With his injury history, even if it is true he is 100%, he knows he wont get big $ anywhere, so what better team to give a great deal to? :king: I know if I were Daze, I'd be like pssst, Bob, over here, look at me, I'm healthy. Whats the point of having kids on the 4th line...if thats the case just trade them lol. Bingochamin!! Not sure why everybody always cries aboot the prospects. Prospects are just that, not all are the next Great One. If the Habs can get proven quality NHLers for reasonable costs, they should do it. Not all prospects turn into what is expected, and if kept long enough to proove that, they can quickly become worthless. Prospects can only be adavtageously traded when other teams still have faith in them. After that they are simply given away. Also, in a Capatalist environment, when you have to many of something, and not enough of another, what do you do?

Also, in a Capatalist environment, when you have to many of something, and not enough of another, what do you do? and dazé could fill a hole on a 3rd line ?? might as well give it to latendresse if, like you said, prospects are just prospects and we should make room for all the dazés in the world, how could we have found tha higgins was a stud on a 1st line, that ryder could score 30 goals, that plekanec as nice two way game coming around. Sir_Boagalott
Hey now, I never said to run the team like the Laffs. That'd be silly. Teams definitely do need prospects. What I'm saying is if you can get a proven NHLer cheap to solidify a roster spot for several years, trade some of the soon to be available "untouchable" deal breakers whose roster spot has just been filled. Theoretically speaking, if the Habs could have also signed 2 proven good Dman for a good rates, then trade Komi + 1 of the Winger prospect thats most likely to be the worst of the bunch. Prospects need to be traded when it still looks like they will pan out. Bob has done a lot of talks, with quite a few teams. At that time, several prospects were off limits because they were needed to replace current players on the roster. If you solidify certain roster spots with UFA deals, then trade the what you have most of, for what you need most. Which of the current prospects will the tortch be passed to? How will the Habs get him? and when? Habs shouldnt be afraid to trade prospects for postions that are filled for prospects in positions that will be needed. Thats the whole point of prospects. :hlogo: P.S. I wonder now if Bobs good ole friend Jacques will be more agreeable with parting with quasi Gainey. Mr. Nasty
Eklund is reporting of a trade talks between Montreal and New Jersey in a deal that may include a third team. From Eklund "I will be doing a chat at 4pm, but here are some crazy circulating rumors this morning.... ...The Canadiens are talking to the Devils and a third team (non-Canadian) in a deal that could really open things up for both sides...information is really hard to come by." smon
A healthy Eric Daze would be incredible. But I don't know if there's any truth to rumours that his back is at 100%. If he's healthy, then give him a shot by all means.
