7 on the road

It is that time of year again. There seems to be nothing worse for the habs, at least in the past few seasons, than a road trip in December. Here is to hoping this trip goes well and doesn't culminate in 2 losses in Fla.

I am so much more optimistic this season. Lets shoot for 5-1-1. That would close out 2010 nicely!

They had some bad Christmas seasons in the past, but that does not apply to the last two years. They closed out last year on a 7-game road-trip, winning 6. The year before finished with 3 road wins (though they lost the 4th road game in January).

If they're the good team we all think they are, then this trip should be no cause for great concern. Then again things have been only so-so lately. I predict a .500 trip, maybe slightly better.

Didn't they go 5-2 last year? If they can go 4-2-1 on this road trip, I'll be really happy! Let's hope it starts well in Colorado!

They have been a lot better than I expected so I am going to put them in the .600% on the road. My focus tonight will be how much ice time and+/_ for O'byrne against a team he was not good enough to play for. And of course any extra he may add.

O'Byrne doesn't strike me as a Rise To The Occasion type of guy. I think it's more likely he's the result of multiple Montreal goals than he has some significant positive impact on the game.

Canadiens fans who care about Ryan O'Byrne remind me of Leaf fans who used to complain

that they didn't use Nathan Dempsey enough.

I'm obviously not a Leaf fan but even I thought Dempsey was underutilized at times...mind you I was about 14 at the time and didn't follow things anywhere near as closely as I do now.

The guy never played a significant role on a good team, even after he left Toronto

he never maintained a starting role for a season.

Yeah, it's obvious now he wasn't that good of a player but he had some decent offensive numbers at the time which always had me thinking he could be a decent PP specialist.
