I was watching the London game on Friday and caught the CHL top-10 rankings, brought a bit of a smile to my face:

1 Saint John Sea Dogs (47-15-0-3)

2 London Knights (47-17-0-1)

3 Tri-City Americans (49-17-2-2)

4 Portland Winterhawks (48-17-3-1)

5 Shawinigan Cataractes (44-15-3-4)

Beaulieu is on the top team, Tinordi on the #2 team, Holland on the #3 team, no one on the 4th but that's made up by two players (Ellis/Bournival) on the 5th ranked squad. Those two are locked into the Memorial Cup but there's a good chance someone will be joining them from the top-3 teams.

Beaulieu will be in. I believe the Sea Dogs have everything to win the tournament this season.

I have said before, i would stop criticizing him if he produced, but he didnt for past 2 years

Anytime someone says this I giggle because it's more proof that Canadiens fans forget what playoff hockey means. It's also funny to me that Cammalleri lead the league in post-season twice when he played for the Habs but his season play gets him no respect while Halak would crap the bed for a string of games every year (and continues to do this in St. Louis) but his post-season play for one post-season gets him a golden pass for anything in the eyes of some Hab fans.

It's fine to have certain players you just don't like but denying Cammalleri's importance to the team in the last two seasons is crazy. He's a powerplay specialist who has had to work with a Markov-less team.

A key difference there is that Cammy was supposed to be producing. He was paid 6M for a reason. Halak was a surprise. He was our backup who was really good (by backup standards) in the regular season... then lit it up in the playoffs. Halak filled his role and then exceeded it. Cammy failed to do so in the regular season... then went a bit above what was expected of him in the regular season. Also... while Cammy's numbers were great in the post season... Halak's numbers in the pits and washington series were incredible.

Tri-City will play Everett (Ryan Murray)

Dietz and his shorthanded crew also take on Medicine Hat, and Gallagher's goal was typical, he is all around crease or accidentially/ on-purpose running over goalie every game.

Brock Nelson (isles prospect) is so good. I'd love to steal him. Power forward top 6 Centre for sure. He'll be as good as Patches but at Centre IMO. What a Prospect Stud

He won me the HW Draft Pool that year, I correctly picked him going #30.

Michigan loses 3-2 in final but will be a #1 seed in their region for the frozen four tourney (clinched #2 in country with win yesterday)

Their berth in the tourney sets an NCAA record for consecutive appearances (22 and counting).

This week's CHL Friday night game is Cape Breton vs Saint John (Beaulieu). That makes it what, 6 straight weeks we've been able to see Montreal prospects play?

this will likely be the most one-sided opening match up in all of CHL eh and i suppose Beaulieu should be able to go end to end and put on a show when ever he feels like it.

The only question with this game is whether or not Saint John will get to double digits in goals?

Beaulieu nominated for QMJHL d-man of the year.

Ellis nominated for QMJHL defensive dman of the year.

Bournival nominated for QMJHL scholastic athlete of the year (good grades + good play).

I went back looking to see if the winners of such awards had good careers...

Names like, Doug Hamilton, Deven Dubnyk, Dustin Brown and Scott Niedermayer have won the CHL award... along with guys like Gilbert Brule and our own Robert Slaney. Plus, many players who didn't see any success at the professional level.

So I guess it doesn't really indicate anything for results haha!

Yes or be an Overager in the QMJHL. However its more likely he is AHL bound as 1st round picks as overagers is rare. If he was born just one month later in Jan 2013 he'd be headed for the Q for sure

It would be best for you to try reading full sentences.

Halak was mediocre to average this season up to around December. He lost his starting role to Brian Elliott. Ken Hitchcock came in and being a goalie wiz he got Halak back on track.

Halak will likely never be a 60 game goaltender in the NHL. I think the Blues realize this and will be quite happy with a solid platoon.

thanks, i thought there was some need to be 20 in AHL if a Canadian.

I saw somewhere that Pateryn, is considering going on to Med school? So maybe he wont be a Bulldog next year like i thought?

the rule on beaulieu is anyone who turns 20 on or before december 31st can be AHL, anyone who turns 20 after that can't. This is also why Beaulieu will not be eligible to go back to the World Juniors

Pateryn got his entrance to Med School but the school agreed to defer it as long as he wants so he can pursue pro hockey first.

Basically the kid has an open ticket to med school he can pick up if hockey doesn't work or after his career is over if it does.

some other dude managed both, Randy Gregg i think was an oiler and doc wasnt he?

Anyways, a good sized shot blocking defensive d-man like Pateryn could fit in nicely a year or 2 down the road next to Tinordi or Beaulieu.
