Is it me or he seems to be bigger and faster than last year?

Sadly ... 20/21 Badgers website lists him as 5'7", 165 lbs ... two pound gain over what NHL reported when he was drafted ... perhaps it is a better distributed, more effective, 165 pounds ... that would allow him to be faster

Cole Caufield Hat Trick

Thats 4 goals and 8 points in 6 games this season (and its a 6-game point streak)

Since he is never going to be a power forward good to see he is answering the "size" question with production ... it is what is in his control

I’m quite sure he’s at least an inch taller, if not two taller than when he was drafted. That’s just an eye test though.

I think his NHL height will end up 5’8

Drafted 5’’7 and 1/4 and now may be 5’’8.

He’s grown an inch (or 3/4 of an inch).

He doesn’t personally look much bigger to me though.

On a related note, Cole Caufield is the real deal.

I’m not the type to hype up prospects but time will tell, in my favor.

Farrell is too good for the USHL.

He was supposed to be at Harvard but they cancelled their season.

Farrell scored 15 goals (41 assists) last season ... 2019/20 USHL goal scoring leader had 34 ... 30g seems reasonable for SF this season, maybe 35-40 ... It never hurts to have a DOMINANT season ... expect he will get TONS of icetime in all situations ... this may prove to be like the famous "Red Wing Formula" (leave a player an extra season in the AHL rather than bringing them up too soon) and this could benefit Farrell in the long run ... may even raise his profile for the US-WJHC team

I think its a little different being a 22 or 23 year old overripe in the AHL where you are still playing against men... then to be one of the older players in the USHL dominating a lot of 16 and 17 year olds.

A dominant year is great and all... but I think he would have got more out of college hockey.

The AHL thing was, admittedly, an imperfect analogy ... wasn't meant to be literal ... and I get where you are coming from ... just feel that a player expecting that they will dominate can be an important part of a scorer's development

Caufield 1a, Gorniak 1g(2) in 8-5 loss. Not sure how many watched on RDS? They play again today at 5:00, shown on TSN2.

Farrell 1a

Watched a good part of it ... CC made a couple of nice moves and certainly has a good shot ... but RDS pointed out he had a bad O-Zone giveaway on the 4th(?) goal and was pinned to the bench for a few shifts

Even with that pause, I wouldn't call them back.  Ylonen and Leskinen aren't cracking the Habs out of training camp and I wouldn't even have them in my 35-player invite list.  Let them stay home until AHL camps get closer to starting and that's still probably seven weeks away at the earliest.

Quotes of the day: Bouillon (nhl.com)

Frankie on couple d prospects.

Liked the comments ... very neutral on Guhle, Fairbrother and LeGuerrier ... seems that due to circumstances couldn't really say anything more ... but very positive on Struble and Harris ... really liked his comments on Fleury:

"I think for Cale. It's a question of confidence. When he made the step from Junior to the AHL in Laval, he's kind of a shy guy. But he wants to learn; he's a sponge. When I met him when he was in Junior, and even in Laval, he wants to learn and he wants to be better. When he made the step up to Montreal, he was playing really well the first half of the season. After that, it seemed like he lost his confidence. I like his size, I like the way he plays: he's pretty physical, he's good defensively. What I think right now, it's only a lack of confidence. I'm pretty sure he's going to be a regular defenceman in the NHL one day."

Especially liked the "he's a sponge" ... not all you g players have that sort of desire to learn ... don't expect great things from him, but agree he should be a regular NHL D ...
