DON
Evans 1a 13pts in 13gms, tied 25th in NCAA scoring. Juulsen 1a, he is off (0.52ppg) his offensive pace from last year (0.76ppg).
Commandant
Evans 1a 13pts in 13gms, tied 25th in NCAA scoring. Juulsen 1a, he is off (0.52ppg) his offensive pace from last year (0.76ppg). Everett's offense is worse than last year though.
DON
Wasn't in yesterday's 5-0 Tips win, but lost Scherbak and other Russian also (I think) and has dropped. 3.3/gm last year 2.5/gm so far
dlbalr
- 2 more points for Addison today. - Reway had 2 goals and an assist. - Lehkonen had an assist to set a new career high for points in a single SHL season. - Nygren had a goal, 17 points in 23 SHL games now for him. DON
Addison 1g 1a, both on the PP (7pts in last 4 gms).
dlbalr
Noah Juulsen has been invited to Team Canada's World Junior training camp. 11 blueliners were invited (they'll likely take 7) and Juulsen is one of just three right shots.
ICEWATER77
It looks like Juulsen is slotted as a #2 RD. Can't wait to see him on the big stage!
DON
RH-d seemed to be less competition during summer games, so he may have an OK shot to make final roster.
dlbalr
It sounds like Daniel Audette is ready to return to the lineup tomorrow against Cape Breton.
DON
SHL Vejdemo had 2a game 13:58, 10pts in 24gms, not bad for 19yr old SHL rookie. Lehkonen (9) GWG 16:49, now with 18pts in 24gms.
dlbalr
Vejdemo is certainly helping his cause for WJC consideration. Other than Juulsen, he's really the only other Hab prospect who has a shot at a spot.
DON
Reway gets 1g 1a today for 11pts in 6 Swiss games.
DON
Tried to watch Tigers vs Giants WHL game to see how Bradley was doing, but was ugliest hockey I have seen. Was a poor battle between two terrible teams, hopefully Bradley can get traded to a better team after X-mas.
dlbalr
McNiven's in a bit of a tough patch in the W-L column. He has lost 5 straight games and 9 of his last 11. That said, he has allowed 2 or less in 6 of his last 9 starts and still has pretty good numbers on the season overall.
DON
Pretty quiet night for CHL/NCAA prospects, 1a for Audette & Bourque was it.
DON
Reway 1g and 1 for 2 in shootout, in 3-2 loss. Vejdemo 11:36 toi today, no pts.
dlbalr
Vejdemo is on Sweden's preliminary WJC roster. There are 15 forwards on there so he has to survive two cuts to make the final squad.
DON
Kinda surprising but he also was at Swede summer games, so hope he makes the cut.
Commandant
Kinda surprising but he also was at Swede summer games, so hope he makes the cut. His recent upswing in play is probably the reason he was invited.
DON
Addison out injured McNivan getting lit up 5-1 on 26 shots (in 3rd) so far. Audette 1g3a, but was blowout game so not one of 3 stars. Bourque 1a, 4pts in last 10gms. 22pts in 30gms, is a -5 after being +27last year (crappier team maybe?).
dlbalr
Bourque 1a, 4pts in last 10gms. 22pts in 30gms, is a -5 after being +27last year (crappier team maybe?). The team isn't as good as last year but it's still a pretty good squad. Last year Bourque was on the 2nd/3rd pairing (more 2nd than 3rd) but now he's the #1 defenceman which means he's facing off against the opposing teams' best way more often. dlbalr
A decent day for the CHL prospects: - McNiven pitched a shutout - 2 assists for Bradley who has 7 points in his last 6 games - 1 assist for Bourque Juulsen survived the first round of cuts on Canada's blueline for the WJC's. There are still 2 d-men to be cut but I like Juulsen's chances of making it (especially since he's one of only two right shooting d-men). dlbalr
There is some speculation from Sportsnet that Simon Bourque could be moved prior to the QMJHL's trade deadline. Simon Bourque, D, Rimouski Oceanic When Charlotteown makes the Henley move they’ll need to fill that spot on the back end and Bourque fits. He is available. dlbalr
The first World Junior pre-tournament game for Canada goes today. As things stand, Juulsen has been skating on the top D pairing. Puck drop is at noon EST on TSN. Reway is playing in a mini National tournament this weekend called the Arosa Challenge (I think he may be an alternate captain as well). He picked up an assist in a 4-1 win over Belarus. He'll face the Swiss tomorrow.
