Gallagher will likely fit in better as scorer on top 2 lines whereas Bournival will for sure be 3rd/4th liner early in career, but with very hard working guys like Leblanc, Bournival, White and Gallagher we will hopefully see more inspired play than that shown at present.

Bournival seems to be playing the role Leblanc had last year and would fit on 2nd, 3rd or 4th line nicely.

That friggin Dougie Hamilton looks too damn good and will haunt the Leafs starting next year in Boston for sure. Hamilton and Segain for Kessel is a bit lopsided.

Should be a even match tonight and will get to see a future Hab pick in June with Filip Forsberg, unless Habs really do well and overtake Ducks and Islanders for Grigorenko, haha.

Beaulieu looks super with puck and offensively, but defensively seems simllar to several current Hab d-men who couldnt knock my grandmother off her skates, but at least we have Tinordi, Ellis, Pateryn and a couple other strictly defensive d-men turning pro in fall of 2012.

should be another tight tournament and great time of year

cheers

Beaulieu is by no means a soft defenceman. Common misconception about a guy who moves the puck as well as he does. He can hit, and he can really fight. He's really good defensively too.

His major problem is that about once per game (if playing 25+ minutes) he will make a mind blowingly dumb gaffe or giveaway in his own end of the rink.

I think he's the white, left-handed subban.

Jarred Tinordi scores a breakaway goal for Team USA tonight.

Future Shootout Specialist (if we hire Marc Crawford as coach).

As soon as I read that, my thoughts immediately turned to Mike Komisarek scoring a breakaway OT winner (at 3 on 3 I believe) against the Leafs. What a way for Tinordi to technically score his first of the season.

Stat lines for the Canadian prospects are updated in the StatTracker. (Also note that as I'll be out of town Tuesday and most of Wednesday, there will be a delay in updates during that time).

In the US-DEN game, Tinordi has a goal (he's on fire!) as the States lead 3-2 after 1.

Beaulieu is not on the PK and is the 7th d-man for a reason, he is a PP specialist with great puck skills, skating and vision which cant to taught like defensive play can be.

I havent seen him play well defensively, he gets schooled by junior forwards and like Subban will need at least 1 full year in the minors to be even so-so defensively as Suban is slowely becoming.

But not a big deal, he is a great draft-pick and Green of the Caps sucks as a d-man but as a 4th forward he is an all-star and i see Beaulieu as more a Green-type player than a Subban.

Fighting does not equate to defensive play, but nice that he has some grit for sure and is not like some other softish offensive Hab d-men like Diaz, Weber, Markov, Kaberle, Campoli, Subban (i know you will say Subban is not soft, but he seems (to me anyways) totally terrified to take a hit, unlike a Gorges or Yemelin and fighting Marchand is about as light-weight as it gets).

Another garbage goal for Gallagher, he just reminds me more and more of Gionta. Why does he have to be so small! in a couple years once Gionta, Cammalleri, Gomez are gone it wouldnt matter, but with Desharnais, Plekanec and the rest of sub 6 footers, how can he be added to this Habs forward group?

Tinordi, seems to have much better speed than i expected and he has Rick Green's scoring touch and that is fine by me, as long as he protects Price and can clear the crease its all good.

Am very curious to see Pribyl play.

Bournival is a hard worker and can skate but dont think a natural scoring type guy like Gallagher?

Those russian forwards are just so skilled and dangerous with the floating forward looking for breakaway all the time; a couple of the Swede forwards look very good as well. Canada will have its hands full.

He must be injured

I am very impressed with our players so far. Gallagher knows where the net is; he could have scored twice easily tonight. Bournival has a good shot and is very dependable on the ice; he is more of a grinder, but a very good one, an excellent 3rd line centerman IMO. I believe that Beaulieu has the most upside; he is the 7th defenseman on this team, but he has great skills, a very hard shot and strong on his skates. I did not see much of Tinordi, but the fact that he was the best player for the USA against Finland is sure a good thing. Pribyl did not play much; he was injured, apparently, and obviously was not comfortable playing on the point during the PP; still, I saw some good stick handling on good passes, but he has to do better.

All in all, we have some good prospects in the pipeline.

I only caught the third but Gallagher did stand out to me he always seemed to be after the puck and in the right places in front of the net. Great hockey sense from what I saw.

I have to disagree on Beaulieu being "schooled" by junior forwards. That doesn't seem an issue to me. His play defensively without the puck is fine for a guy his age. Again, I think the real issue are the bad giveaways at inopportune times, and that is why he's a 7th. His ability on the boards, protecting off the rush, covering his man, etc... Are all fine. He's not at Gormley's level obviously, but he's not bad either.

I do agree he needs time in the minors, but so do almost all 20 year old Dmen. I feel that given time he'll be a top pairing guy with a two way game.

Gallagher's goal against Denmark was good in that although he was stopped on his first shot, he didn't skate past the net like most players do. He stopped to look for his own rebound like goal scorers do.

If he can keep those instincts, he'll score goals at every level.

yes, they say defense can be taught and he no doubt has top offensive skills, but i also wonder if he can do the opposite of Markov (who used to be a forward) and become a forward instead?

I know would be odd, but that is where he was yesterday and the Habs already have lots of offensive d-men, not of his calibre but, he can handle the puck great and skate very well.

Tinordi, barring a Danish miracle, won't be getting a medal after their 3rd period woes continued against the Czechs in a 5-2 loss. The US need Denmark to beat Finland to have a remote shot still at 3rd in the pool. The Danes, however, have benched 5 players for joking around on camera after losing the Canadian game.

This is what they were suspended for:
