It would be great if we could get Thornton but I doubt he wants to leave San Jose. Steal would be fine too

Maybe Artem Anisomov? Not exactly a reclamation project, but he fits MB's Chicago 2009-2012 worshipping vision of the league. Eric Staal is another name I thought of.

He doesn't really fit that 'vision' though.  Anisimov wasn't with the Blackhawks until 2015, long after Bergevin left.

Doesn't matter. He's been vetted. :P

Uhhh, Hawks just lost in the 1st round.

I think Lovett was being sardonic...referencing MB's statement a few years ago about Lars Eller being a guy who "helps you win the in the playoffs"

He's being dealt.. MB's answer at the press confirmed it.. Here's a list of players I could see coming back...

Anaheim - Lindholm or Fowler.

Calgary - Sam Bennett

Carolina - Noah Hanifin

Colorado - Matt Duchene

Edmonton - RNH

Minnesota - Brodin or Granlund

Ottawa - Ceci (Dion has put them in a tough spot)

Philadelphia - Courturier

Winnipeg - Perreault or Trouba

Not sure what the best return might be.. but I'd probably pick Hanifin. Moves beside Weber for the next few years

2nd choice would be Bennett... I think he's so undervalued.

good value.

I think we really have to get a centre if we move chuck though.

If we move Chuck without getting a centre back, what is our trade chip to fill the centre need?

The captain.

Drouin in....

Chuck out for D.

Max out for a C

feels like status quo.  It doesn't feel like making the team any better at scoring goals.

I guess it depends on which centre is coming back the other way. Or maybe Drouin is their centre and we don't trade Max.

I think if you trade a Winger for a Centre.... all other things being equal, you are probably downgrading in points cause wing is a less valuable position.

That said, even if you get a C with the same offence as Max, I don't know how the team overall scores more goals, which should be the goal..

I agree, well here's hoping Drouin is our man.

Yeah, even if he's a centre.... you need to keep your other forward depth.

Adding Drouin to a group with Max, Chuck, Radulov, Gallagher, etc.... is a nice step forward.

Adding Drouin and then removing one of the others for a defenceman... doesn't seem to increase our scoring to me.

Plekanec for Koivu would be an interesting idea. Habs retain some cash.

I like it except for the cap-crunch

Why? Why would Minnesota do that? Why?

They have to sign Nino & Grandlund and have Staal & Coyle...
