They have to sign Nino & Grandlund and have Staal & Coyle...

They are about to lose either Scandella or Brodin. If they trade Brodin as rumoured, they will still end up losing Scandella to Vegas. That's $4M off the cap and they already have $11 million free. That's $15 million to sign Nino and Granlund. Also Coyle has been playing wing (though I think he can play centre) There is also a lot of talk they will buy out Pominville. Not much time left to do it though.

Koivu's $6.75M is for only one season and he's a great player. There's no way they dump him for Plekanec's $6 million... for one season.

He's a righty, the Habs need lefties.

I was going to say he's a righty, which might not be the best fit.

Either way this team needs a legit puck mover.

I've heard rumours that Beaulieu isn't getting protected. I've also heard Winnipeg is in on him. Either way he's probably gone.... speed will be virtually non-existent on this team's backend.

I was looking over TSN's trade bait list, focusing on the centres.

Would Brayden Schen be a good fit for us. 25 goals....still relatively young. Decent size. Not a very good plus-minus.

What would it take to get him if he was a good fit?

He also played a lot of wing last season. I'd like to get someone who is actually a bonafide center at this point but he can put up the points. I had him last season in fantasy and it was only because my time ran out on my pick. It's the only round it happened, and he turned out to be one of my best players... Including players players like Jumbo Joe. I feel like having too many options might be a bad thing though. Are we going to go through a season flip flopping Galchenyuk, Drouin and Schenn from wing to center or are we going to have a defined role for them? Probably a better problem to have than only one of those players being on the team though.

I'd love to see the habs pick up Tavares, but i would want him signed long term. Also, I'm not sure if giving up Chucky, Beaulieu and Juulsen would be enough to get Tavares out of N-Y.

Who would you want to play with Weber?

TJ Brodie? Brodin/Dumba? or Vatanen/Fowler?

I would think Fowler would be the better partner but I think Brodin is the 1 in reach to MB

Are the top 2 centres available actually going to be  that much better than galchenyuk?  Everything I've read suggests that they maybe a few years away and are not even close to the Mathews level.  I wouldn't want to give up that much and end up with radek bonk or Patrick Stefan.

I'd do that.  I think Patrick's offensive upside is pretty much where I'd peg Galchenyuk's (60-65 points) and Patrick is someone that is good enough defensively to hold his own down the middle right away.  The Habs would also free up some money in the process.  That said, I don't think the Devils would really entertain that though.
