Permanent Trade Proposal Thread

Recommended Posts

dlbalr    654

With the trade deadline soon approaching and most threads permeating into ideas of trades regardless of the original topic, I think it's time to have a proposal thread. So, here's a place where you can toss your ideas out there and get feedback. For those who wish to comment on offers, please try to be civil and constructive in any criticisms/discussion, we don't want any flame wars happening. That thought notwithstanding, have some fun with this, you never know what interesting ideas can be generated when tossing trade options out there.

A UFA to be? I have to say no.

A signed Suter? Maybe, but how long and what amount?

TO OTTAWA

Travis Moen

TO MONTREAL

Zenon Konopka

5th rounder

Hell No... Moen is worth far more than a 4th line fighter who no one wanted in the summer because he is also an extreme defensive liability and takes the most minor penalties in the NHL, plus a fifth rounder. Plus Konopka is a UFA.

I want at minimum a 2nd rounder for Moen.

TO PHILLY

Tomas Kaberle

TO MTL

Marc-Andre Bourdon

No thanks, Bourdon is nothing special.

TO COLUMBUS

Chris Campoli

TO MTL

Future Considerations/Bag of Hockey Pucks

I think Campoli will get you a draft pick.

TO PITTSBURGH

Hal Gill

To MTL

Second Round Pick

Sure.

TO BOSTON

Yannick Weber

TO MTL

Chris Kelly

Neither team does this deal.

Chris Kelly is a huge piece of the Bruins third line, and Penalty Kill and provides them offence they need and was great in the playoffs last year. They need him for this year's playoffs.

Chris Kelly is a UFA, I don't see what use Montreal has for him this season. I like Kelly, but whats the point? We are going nowhere this year. Also unlike say Suter, where I can see the logic in trading for a superstar and re-signing him for future years makes sense, a guy like Kelly (or Jarrett Stoll, or Tuomo Ruutu, or Jiri Hudler, or Paul Gaustad or Dominic Moore) is going to be available July 1st. No need to trade for him now, when similar players will come available.

Nobody that is contending is going to give you anything unless they are at end of contract, in which case you don't want them. They want to add pieces themselves. You might find a meat for meat deal with bottom feeders. I think you are probably looking for prospects or picks.

Your're kidding right??? You want trade ak46 AND Subban for a UFA, when we are going to miss the playoffs???? I think Nashville would do this deal before PG even finishes with his proposal!!!!

Moen for konopa???? Seriously????

You want to also trade weber for a UFA??? You do know we are going to miss the playoffs right??? What are the chances of the habs and bruins making a deal. The rare occurance has happened before, but I can't see it happening again.

I'm fine with moving Gill, Moen, and Campoli for picks and prospects.

I dont care about a couple good games, this team is not making the playoffs. We'd need to win like 80% of the remaining games and they have shown no ability to go on that kind of a run.

Okay here will be the rules.

Each person can predict 1 trade.

it has to be exactly correct

Player traded to what team and what comes back.

Get it right and I buy you a beer next time or first time I meet you.

There should need to be some sort of prediction designation with the proposal as well. The idea of this thread is to bounce ideas out there, that still needs to be the focus. Otherwise, we won't have many proposals. Thus, I suggest making sure you clearly identify your 'beer prediction' among other trade proposals/guesses.

Agree and I had no intent of stealing the threads purpose or thunder.

Don't like beer but I'd take a glass of wine if AK is dealt for AH straight up in the next couple days. 2 pending UFA. Would give both MTL and EDM a couple weeks to figure out if they fit in lineup and if they offer them a long term contract.

If AK Iis traded straight up for Hemsky,PG should not only be fired, but should be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail, before the real humiliation rituals are begin.

Hemsky's only issue is staying healthy..... I know you love AK, but Hemsky is the better player when he's healthy.

In the "Habs season prediction thread" I made a prediction that Kostitsyn would get traded to LA when Gagne gets injured. I like my chances.

I wouldn't hesitate to move ak for the right guy.

Hemsky would be a great fit in well with our hospital ward. He is also a guy that plays soft and takes a lot of nights off. People complain of ak46, but at least he brings a physical element, is younger, and cheaper.

Main point though, is why would a non-playoff team trade for a UFA, unless PG is bent on trading both kostitsyns for nothing.

I think AK46 will be moved to either the red wings, nashville, or LA. I also think by the middle of next year, we will be regretting letting him go once he puts it all together.

Whoa whoa whoa. I guess I misread the thread, I figured that we were predicting trades...let's face it, with the Habs braintrust any of my trades could be possible. Let's revisit these genius moves over the years...

Patrick Roy

for

Jocelyn Thibault

etc

Mikhail Grabovski

for

Greg Pateryn(NCAA freshman at the time)

Sergei Kostitsyn

for

Dustin Boyd

Ribeiro

for

Stephane Robidas

and lets not forget

Scott Gomez

for

Chris Higgins

Ryan McDonagh

I know it's easy for all fans, myself included to be excited about some new picks/prospects, but most likely the trade deadline will be yet another "welfare Christmas" for our beloved Habs.

Kostitsyn and Hemsky are both UFA at season end. EDM and MTL are both out of the playoffs. Why not test it out? Costs only a little money to the Habs to try something different. Anyways what do we gain having AK until years end? You don't get many chance to try out a player before he gets UFA. Hemsky could be a great fit. He played his junior in the Québec league. He's 1 year younger of his countrymen Plekanec. He's an amazing skilled player, great passer. You can just wonder what he would like on Plekanec's line. Would open up Plekanec even more and feed him the puck. I'm pretty sure Plekanec has what it takes to pot 35 goals.

A.K. is the bigger guy and is a heavy hitter .. compared to Hemsky. Also tremendously talented. Plays a different style than Hemsky, which could fit better in EDM's system..

Gotta tell you after reading the post of Lovetts Magnatone, of the proposed trade of Subban and Kostitsyn for Ryan sutter. Not only would we be raped but setback as well for another 3 years at the least. Yes I know Sutter is an excellent d-man but why in the hell would we make this trade when we have already a franchise d-man whose potential is through the roof, 5 years younger, and would be 3 million dollars cheaper for the next couple of years when resigned. I don't even want to talk about Kostitsyn because that just adds insult to injury by including him in this trade. If gauthier decides to stupidly even consider trading Subban he better be getting back a superstar Center something the team seriously lacks. So here is my proposed trade if god forbid we should trade subban.

PK Subban, Thomas Plekanec, Andrei Kostitsyn, and Yannick Weber to Anaheim.

For Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan, and a 3rd round pick.

I think this would be the best deal for montreal by far. It may seem like a lot from our part, but i think not. Allthough he is a good number 2 center, I believe plekanec time with montreal has run its course, gauthier has finally realized we need to get bigger physical players (especially at center) and lets face it plekanec does not fit that bill in any way. And also i believe we have already have a number 2 center on our team in Lars Eller. Not going to lie throwing in Kostitsyn hurts me but we must put him in to make this deal actually work, anaheim gets a physical forward here who will give them 20 goals 20 assists a season. Weber is in this trade just to put the cherry on the cake, friendly cap hit at 800,000 for the next 2 years, is young and a powerplay asset.

For Montreal they get their two star building blocks for the franchise in Getzlaf and Ryan, and not to mention much bigger and physical up front. So our lineup should look a little something like this

Ryan/Getzlaf/Cole

Pacioretty/Deharnais/Bourque

Moen/Eller/Gionta

Blunden/White/Darche with nokelainen the extra forward. Kind of scary isn't it. I have no doubt about it that if this trade scenario were presented to anaheim they wouldn't even hesitate to pull the trigger. Salary between these players is even at 10.5 million, so no problem on the money front, Anaheim loses its number 1 center but get a solid number 2 in plekanec (60 points a year average) along with their franchise d-man in Subban, a 20 to 25 goal scorer in kostitsyn and a future powerplay specialist in Weber.

Any thoughts.

I’d do this trade in a heartbeat but it would never happen.

Anaheim would be sending two 1st line forwards who both have good size and are young for a 2nd line center, 2nd/3rd line free agent (lower value to non playoff team), a top 2-4 defenseman depending on when and if he matures, and most likely a bottom pairing offensive defenseman.

Doesn’t sound very fair to me especially with Anaheim tossing in a 3rd round pick. I don’t expect both players to be traded but if they were both to be involved in the same trade together you can guarantee Anaheim is getting at least one 1st round pick among other things. Keep in mind Jeff Carter went for a 1st, 3rd, and a player who was drafted in the 1st.

Kostitsyn basically has little trade value to Anaheim since he would probably walk away from them via free agency. He is more valuable to teams that have a chance at making a cup run and need to add some secondary scoring.
