bbp
I noticed that there hasn't been a thread created for conversation about possible deals around the league in the upcoming deadline. Most reports speak of Toronto, LA, Detroit, Philadelphia and Nashville top buyers. New Jersey and Washington will probably be active to some degree on the deadline as well. Sellers are harder to find. Columbus and Tampa Bay seem to be the only sure fire sellers at the moment. However teams like Carolina or Buffalo could see changes. Ales Hemsky may be in play from Edmonton as well. Who do we think is in play? Who will or won't make moves? Will Florida make moves to make the playoffs? What does Anderson's injury mean for Ottawa heading into the deadline?
dlbalr
Jeff Carter to LA is looking closer and closer. He and Richards get reunited if that's the case, perhaps that gets both of them going again?

dlbalr
going on the ice or going to the bar? There's ample time for each I'm sure. If not, he could always spike the Gatorade bottle on the bench and multitask.

dlbalr
This is Columbus' top-4 defencemen in order of cap hit for next season: Wisniewski, Tyutin, Johnson, and Methot. They're all locked up through 2015-16 with a cap hit of just over $17.3 million. Ouch.
bbp
I was wondering now that Anderson is injured if Ottawa will be looking to trade for a goalie. Any thoughts?
Commandant
Only a 1-2 week injury. They'll survive with Auld and Lehner. If it was more serious I could see them making a move but this is pretty minor.
dlbalr
Willie Mitchell will sign a multi year extension later today, that will take another off the market. Edmonton has offers to Hemsky and Smyth right now as well.
dlbalr
Marek Zidlicky to NJ for Kurtis Foster (or so the reports go). He has a $4 mil cap hit through the end of next year.
dlbalr
Nick Palmieri, Stephane Veilleux, and WSH's 2nd also going to the Wild. That's a pretty good haul for a uni-dimensional blueliner who's lone dimension has been iffy this year (0 goals, 13 assists in 40 games). Edit: MIN also gets a conditional 2013 3rd as well. All of a sudden, I think Kaberle could actually fetch something now with that type of return for a similar player in Zidlicky. Obviously not 5 players/picks (they couldn't do that anyway) but an offensive d-man is something there isn't much of on the market.
Commandant
Kaberle is better than Zidlicky and MZ is not a rental as he's due 4m next year.

Commandant
I hope Gauthier tried to contact NJ about Kaberle I think Kaberle is in our plans for next season is the only caution I make.
Trizzak
I was wondering now that Anderson is injured if Ottawa will be looking to trade for a goalie. Any thoughts? Sens traded a 2nd round pick for Ben Bishop, so you were indeed correct, sir.
Commandant
Surprised by that, a bigger question now is what does this mean for Lehner?
dlbalr
Surprised by that, a bigger question now is what does this mean for Lehner? His ELC slid last year so he still has a couple years of waiver exemption after this one. He'll play as the starter in Binghamton again next year I assume and then when Bishop's deal is up they can decide then on the plan.
bbp
Sens traded a 2nd round pick for Ben Bishop, so you were indeed correct, sir. I'm kind of surprised St Louis couldn't get more then a 2nd for him.
dlbalr
I'm kind of surprised St Louis couldn't get more then a 2nd for him. He would've been a UFA at the end of the season and I'm pretty sure he cleared waivers at the beginning of the year.

bbp
Schultz for Gilbert. Great hockey deal. I was just going to say that, nothing about the cap, nothing about being buyers or sellers, just a good deal for both clubs. I think Edmonton wins though. JoeLassister
From now on, instead of "The Trade Deadline", I think we should just call this : "The Deadline".
