dlbalr
I thought the Habs might try a conditioning stint with him first but instead, they opted to waive Bournival right away. We'll find out tomorrow at noon if he clears. Considering how much time he has missed, I would think he will (although the Leafs tried to do the same with one of their youngsters and he got snatched up by Nashville). http://www.habsworld.net/2015/12/michael-bournival-placed-on-waivers/

So it's waivers.
dlbalr
@ArponBasu Michel Therrien said Michael Bournival wasn't eligible for a conditioning loan to AHL because was not on 23-man roster. So it's waivers. Then there's the bonafide long-term injury conditioning loan (or whatever it's called). You can't be on the 23-man roster for that one. And players coming back from non long-term injuries have taken conditioning stints before while on IR so I'm not sure Therrien's entirely correct there. Even if he is, the long-term injury loan was an option.

Just a guess, but after the 14days conditioning there is a good chance they would have to send him back to St. John's at which point he may be of more value because he just completed his conditioning stint. DON
Anyways, nice to hear he is cleared to play and healthy again. Always seemed like a hard working kid.
The Chicoutimi Cucumber
People forget how good he was when he first came up. Presumably that was just the first burst of rookie enthusiasm - or maybe that was actually what he's capable of, when free of concussion symptoms. Glad to hear he's OK, and all the best to him as he tries to reconstruct his career. (But he never should have played with concussions in the first place. In this, he exemplifies what's probably still a prevailing culture in the league).
