The 2017 World Junior Championships are here.  Though we can't say the Habs will be well represented this year, we can at least say that they will actually be represented after not having any prospects in this tournament last year.  Noah Juulsen (CAN) and Mikhail Sergachev (RUS) will be playing from the Habs.  The finals will be held in Montreal this year which is why the annual late December road trip is a fair bit longer than usual this season.

Not seeing any offensive side to Juulsen's game - tho seems like he is pairs with Bean to be the safety net to Bean's riskiness.

Likely = Beaulieu in offense but better defensively and yes he is. Surprisingly he has played 16+minutes in both games, seemed like he had much less icetime than that.

Didn't see Sergachev do a lot, but was just a blowout vs a terrible opponent. He managed zero points on 9 goals which is a surprise. to me at least.

With a guy like Bean he's likely playing very safe hockey (similar to how he played last season).  He is very strong defensively.

I think with a different partner he'd show more of the offensive game that we've seen in Everett this year.

Denmark picks up their second win of the tournament for the first time ever.  They're the big surprise early on (at least the biggest pleasant surprise, Finland's struggles have really been shocking, even without their top line from last year).

Don't Finland still have several highly rated draft prospects, not that 17-18 yr olds should be team leaders but?

They do, which is why them struggling has been a surprise.  They have a pretty good goalie in Veini Vehvilainen too.

Sergachev gets player of the game against the US in a 3-2 loss.

Really? The Russians seem to play the crap out of #28 on d and I didn't think Sergachev stood out that much, would of thought one of forwards #7 or 10 maybe.

Juulsen had some good and couple weak plays but also didn't think he stood out.

Switzerland beat Denmark in a shootout which knocks Finland to the relegation round.  It's the first time ever that the defending champion will have to go through the relegation side to stay in the tournament.

Finland also fired their coaching staff mid-tournament for failing to make the quarters.

Under the 'things you rarely see in hockey' category, Pierre-Luc Dubois got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for shooting the puck into the net well after the whistle (I guess he wanted to be noticed since he hasn't done a whole lot) while there were offsetting too many men minors late in the game as well.

Juulsen's role should increase with Canada losing their #1.

But, they moved another LH (Clague) d-man up to play with Chabot on 1st pairing, instead of a more natural RH Juulsen.

They really seem to like Bean and Juulsen as a pairing.  I don't to be honest, Bean hasn't looked too good so far so I'd have mixed things up.
