dlbalr Posted March 7, 2017 Share Posted March 7, 2017 With the playoffs getting underway in college hockey, it won't be too long before teams start getting eliminated and we start to see some free agents hit the market. The Habs have been active in this market in recent years and they probably will be again at some point this year as well. Here's a listing of some of the notable players available with some comments from one of Montreal's NCAA scouts: https://www.nhl.com/news/best-college-nhl-free-agents/c-287429252 Players can sign contracts for the current season (like Charlie Lindgren did last year) but they won't be eligible for the playoffs. Montreal has 48/50 contracts on the books at the moment so they have room to add a player this season. Alternatively, they can sign future contracts like any junior prospect or CHL free agents.
