That was a crafty move by Pacioretty and I wish it had worked.

He tried that a couple of times on Karlsson.  Neither worked but if it even plants the seed in the defender that he might try it, that may give him that little bit of room to get the shot off.

While the Habs played a lot better in the first half of the period, that second half wasn't particularly impressive.  It's nice that they're winning but they could be playing a whole lot better.

Pleky seems a little slow tonight with Hudon but Schlemko is like on fire going up ice.

As I see the Sens bumping Price at every opportunity with no fear, and Smith falling into him on purpose the way he blatantly did, I find myself questioning why Deslauriers hasn't responded.

Good question! In fact, why hasn't ANYBODY on this team done anything to warn the hens that they shouldn't be touching Carey Price!

Seemed at  1 point he was about to go with a Sens  dude but Habs hadn't scored yet and the hens guy seemed to back off too

Long live the randomness of the faceoff stat.

Drouin is at 39.5% on the season but is 6/7 tonight.

Duchene is at 56.3% on the season but is 1/10 tonight.

Ottawa ranks first in the league in team faceoff percentage while the Habs are 23rd.  Naturally, it's Montreal that has won 73% of the draws through 40 minutes.

The option to back off once you have made contact with Price shouldn't be there...you either drop them or eat repeated uncontested punches to the face.  That 'code' crapola big lazy Laraque spewed didn't fly with me.

Hudon limps off to the dressing room after blocking a shot.

Edit: He's back.

I don't like the fact that we're just sitting on a 1 goal lead!

Man, Pleks is just lost once he hits the opposing team's blue line. 6 million dollar defensive specialist.

My thoughts exactly! It's as if he's lost all offensive abilities. Hard to believe he once managed a 70 point season!

It is like I mentioned in a previous post, this D is very soft once you take Weber out of it. There is no way if you bump, stumble or fart near Price while Weber is out there that you don't get ragdolled out of the crease, face washed, and likely have a hole burned into your soul by the gaze of death. It is just a different dynamic when he is there, there is an intimidation factor, and a je ne sais quoi to keep players honest more often than not, and he doesn't even need to fight to make it happen, he just does.

It is not like Alzner is going to put the fear of god in these guys, so basically when players like Smith look up and down the bench right now and ask themselves who is going to come and push me around if I bump Price "accidentally". It simply isn't going to be as daunting of a task as when a guy like Weber is starring at you from the bench, or he takes a couple strides towards you after you have done something stupid near our net and you know whatever is coming, won't feel very good.

Another goal would make me feel a lot better here.

Was the puck rolling on Byron? How does he miss that open net.

Few! We got the win. Another Solid performance by Carey. Is it safe to say that Carey is officially back to his regular self?

So... do you go Price back-to-back? Or start Niemi?

Call up Lindgren for 1 start.

I don't give Price 5 starts in 8 days.  He has to sit this one and then back in net on Saturday.

Let Price play the home game, he's earned the cheers.

Lindy or Niemi can play in Detroit.

I agree.  The last thing this team can afford is to risk is Price getting more injury prone due to fatigue.

JoeLassister, the streak continues :)

What a nice win by the CH. Schlemko an Jerabek are an improvement. And Carey is back
