dlbalr
It's going to be a slow week so we may as well give this its own discussion. The Habs have loaned Mete to Team Canada for the WJCs. By waiting until now to do so, they reserve the right to recall him once the tournament concludes (or earlier if he's cut which doesn't seem likely). http://www.habsworld.net/2017/12/habs-loan-victor-mete-for-the-world-juniors/
DON
Just hope he makes team. He isn't a lock is he?
dlbalr
No, he's not a lock (no player officially is at this point) but he should be pretty safe here. Playing largely regular minutes in the NHL should be a nice tie-breaker if he finds himself in a dogfight for a roster spot.
DON
Ikonen and Poehling should also be playing I assume.

Both of them seem pretty safe to make it (especially Poehling). Some people thought Cayden Primeau would get a look for the US but that was a longshot at best (next year could be a different story though if he keeps this up). lazy26
I always wondered, do players continue to earn their NHL salary in these situations?

dlbalr
Not a surprise by any stretch but Mete survived the first round of cuts today, including two of the 11 defencemen.
Trizzak
The Bobfather has spoken.
Commandant
Mete wouldn't have been loaned if there was any chance he was getting cut. The junior program wouldn't do that to Montreal.
Commandant
Could he also go to the Olympics?https://www.tsn.ca/canada-eyeing-mete-for-olympics-1.945020 Possibly... but only if the Habs send him to London after the Junior Tourney. dlbalr
Hockey Canada and the CHL would need to reach an agreement on the junior players, something they haven't been able to do yet. Final cuts were made for Canada and Mete made the final roster for the WJCs.
