Do you think Bergevin shed a tear of joy when Julien asked him for veteran help for the 4th line, or did he manage to stay stoic?

I assume the contract wasn't done sooner because Bergevin had to convince Nate that it wasn't THAT weird to finalize the deal by holding hands with Julien and skipping through a spring meadow while singing 'Happy Together'...

Cheap depth Insurance. If one of the young guys  excels in camp, he will be gone faster than you can spell “ Tomas Plekanec”

I like this deal.  He was a pretty good fit on the fourth line and he provides some cheap insurance for the penalty kill and at the faceoff dot.  If he can take a bit of the faceoff pressure off Danault as he did down the stretch, that would be nice.

At least Julien doesn't think Thompson is a powerplay specialist, like he apparently does for Weal.

Back in junior and in the AHL, Weal was a major power play threat.  He actually was decent on the man advantage.

But, I think you noted that we only saw the 'good Weal' at end of year (10pts in 16gms) and likely wont continue at that pace. But, like Weise 1st tour with Habs, hopefully Weal finally found a situation to do well?

Cant complain about signing, but thought (hoped) would go younger.

For one year, this works for me. Low risk, and won't use up future cap space (which may be less plentiful than it is today).

Yes, seems a very low risk signing and i dont mind his play.

OK, whose next to be signed? Benn?
