puck7x
...For the outdoor Alumni game that is 3 day old news , but no one mentioned it... CLICK HERE The winningest coach in the NHL is waiting to hear from the management brains behind the Canadiens alumni team, presumably Réjean Houle or Guy Lafleur, for their November exhibition against the Edmonton Oilers outdoors at Commonwealth Stadium It would be pretty cool if Bowman coached the Habs team , it would even out the playing field since the Oilers team is 10 years younger then the habs one. In other Bowman news... His thoughts on the habs hiring Bob Gainey.... Retired coach Scotty Bowman wholeheartedly endorsed the choice of Bob Gainey to run the Canadiens. ''I think they made a terrific decision,'' said Bowman. ''Bob's not an inexperienced guy. In Dallas, a new market, the performance of the Stars was pretty sound the decade he was there. He is familiar with the Canadiens, with Montreal, and he was one of the first players to learn the French language well enough to communicate. He's well-respected, and that's what you've got to go with. It's a tough time. Nobody knows the future of hockey [because of the potential labor dispute], but Bob just has to think about next year, then let the future be taken care of by others. He's not going in blind.'' sakiqc
lol, nice title.. sure, Bowman coaching the Habs.. the old, retired Habs players i thought for a second that you wanted to say you would like to see Bowman be the coach of the actual team, lol! we aren't on the '70 anymore! what would he have to achieve more here? nothing to prove, he retired with honours.. that would be crazy to see him behind the habs bench.. talk about a way to end your life! Bowman coaching Habs? i already see Michel Villeneuve visits Bowman at the hospital (after SB had an heart attack after Theo allowed 2 consecutive goals) and his first question to him : "who will be the goalie next game?" or Villeneuve asking Gainey at the Press Conference how the fact Bowman is dying in the hospital will affect the performance of the team, and if he's planning to hire a new coach. poor scotty

puck7x
Here is a great (long) new Gainey article from the USA today... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/...ney-focus_x.htm "I would say the biggest challenge is the identity of the team, the connection the people have with it, the passion they have for it," says Gainey, whose 16 seasons as a Canadien included eight as team captain. "It affects how they feel about things. It's really a vital part of their culture."
