Trizzak Posted December 27, 2019 Share Posted December 27, 2019 Been seeing a lot of "Best of the Decade" or "Defined the Decade" lists online, and I wondered if we could come up with an All-Decade team for the Habs. 12 forwards, 6 defensemen, 2 goalies, 1 coach. Throw in some healthy scratches if you like. Unfortunately I can't find a great resource for finding out which players did what specifically for the Habs during this set time, but I figure we can crowdsource anyone we might forget individually. Here's my team: Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gallagher Galchenyuk - Desharnais - Gionta Drouin - Danault - Radulov Tatar - Eller - Byron LW has recency bias, but Tatar has done more in his season and a half than Cammalleri did in his. An argument could be made for Erik Cole. Drouin and Galchenyuk had time at centre, but both are considered wingers now. Centre is tough. Domi deserves a spot on talent, and I could very easily be talked into subbing him in, but his body of work is a bit too low compared to the long term impact Desharnais and Eller had on the franchise. Good lord RW hasn't had much talent the past 10 years. Gionta and Gallagher are clear 1 and 2. I added in Radulov because he had such an impact for one season, and I'm totally cheating putting Byron in the final spot but he really does exemplify the Habs RW over the past decade: speedy, small, bargain. Markov - Subban Emelin - Weber Gorges - Petry RD is set in stone. LD on the All-Decade Team is still being carried by Markov. You can possibly find a replacement for Emelin, but I will fight to the death on Gorges. The man nixed a trade to the Leafs because he loved being a Hab so much. Price Budaj Duh. Budaj gets the backup spot for lasting the longest in the revolving door for backup goalies. Coach is Therrien, which means this All Decade Team has a 3 year window to win the cup before they revolt on him. This also means that Bouillon is the 7th defenseman. What does your team look like? If it's January 2010 to December 2019, then the 2010 playoffs are included. If it's 2010-2011 to 2019-2020 seasons, then not (but current season is only half included at this point).
