Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ryder, 23, ranked second with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs in scoring in 2002-2003, recording 34 goals -- sixth-best in the AHL -- and 33 assists for 67 points in 69 games. He also totalled 43 penalty minutes and a plus-15 differential. Ryder led the Bulldogs in goals, was tied for the lead with Jason Ward in power-play goals with 10, and ranked third on the team with five game-winning goals. The St. John’s, Newfoundland native also led the Bulldogs to the Calder Cup finals with 17 points (11 goals and seven assists) in 23 playoff games, a total which placed him third in AHL playoff scoring. The Canadiens selected Ryder in the 8th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, 216th overall. [Edited on 22-7-03 by Habs77]
