simonus
thanks for creating the game thread, but isn't Jose groined? Danis gets the start. Hopefully Bulis is back. Speculative Lineup Scenario a) Zednik-Koivu-Perezhogin Higgins-Ribeiro-Ryder Bulis-Begin-Sundstrom Lapierre-Plekanec-Dandenault Markov-Rivet Souray-Komisarek Boullion-Streit Danis b)switch in Dagenais for Lapierre if you think he's going back to minors c)switch in Dagenais for Streit if you think it's Streit's turn on the bench (Dags 4th line wing, Dandenault into D corps, Streit on the outs) Probably B, I prefer A. I threw Plek on 4th and formed my 3rd line based on Hickey's most recent article in the Gazette. shortcat1
This is one of the three teams that I 'despise'. :puke: Not so much the players but the team itself. Part of that is a 'childish' frustration over the fact that the Devils seem to have 'owned' the Canadiens ever since they came on the scene. :puke: What made this attitude even stronger is the fact that this is the team that 'introduced' the trap as a style of play.... capital yuck! :puke: Anyway, as will shortly be said.... "Go Habs Go!"
mathieug
The last game I saw our Habs play in New Jersey was halfway april 2002. One ugly game. Stephane Fiset was making his Montréal debut, Petr sykora played one heck of a game and our beloved team was playing without Dougie Gilmour, Oleg Petrov, Quintal, Brisebois, Dykhuis & Gino Odjick who all got the night off. Koivu played his 2nd game after a miraculous retour, picking up 2 assists on the night. I remember it like it was yesterday. Happy the team changed a lot since that warm, sunny april day. Still I always start shivering when we face the Devils in New Jersey. Has it something to do with that 5-2 loss, Patrick Traverse playing as our #1-D? Here's hoping for a better result tonight. I hope we get to see Danis in nets again, the kid deserves the chances to play. Also, it would be interesting to see how all the Danis fans out there react if he actually lost a game... heh. *shrug* Macaskill's Prediction: Habs 4, Devils 3 :ghg:
Rooster
Good job on the game thread, thanks. Lots of info, didn't know the Habs PP was up to 6th in the league. Rooster's never acurate prediction for today: Habs 5 (Koivu2, Perezhogin, Rivet, Ribeiro) Devils 2 Good luck to Les Glorieux!

BTH
We've been saying that al year. New Jersey doesn't have much of a team right now. I say we grab a 2-0 lead and give it back to them and then score the winner in the final quarter of the 3rd period.

thehabbit
well the big wheel keeps on turning.........last season we owned the devils and i think that it will continue for a long time to come after them owning us for over a decade with their ugly trap:puke:i agree with shortcats comments, the only reason to hope the devils play well is because brodeur is canada's goalie, but not against montreal of course. heres a thought, brodeur isnt playing well now that he is facing a tonne of shots and theo isnt playing as well as when he did face a tonne of shots so why not trade theo and ribs for brodeur:o:lol:just a joke.......please dont comment on this:eyes: prediction 4-2 habs :hlogo::/):/):hlogo: :ghg:
option+
Brodeur is also struggling in part because he can't clear the puck anymore. Some of those pucks he used to clear out of there like a third D-man are now turning into quality shots on goal.

If you watch the games instead of his stats he's playing great. He robbed people a few times. He's still the best goalie in the NHL.

"Go Habs Go!" I've alway felt that the Devils were more like the Habs Southern Edition. They've had a lot of players and staff with connections to the habs over the past 15 years. Probably why they've always worked hard in those games against the Habs. Regarding the Devil's intro'ing the trap, didn't Lemaire bring the trap to the Devils after developing it with the Habs? Their employing the trap was also a reaction to the state of the league in general. The league expended too quickly, there was a serious lack of offensive talent around the league. The Devils had an average roster, yet they found a very effective strategy that bought them huge success. I've also always respected that at the end of the '83-'84 season, they didn't tank it to "win" Mario Lemieux. They told their players that they didn't want to be labled the worst team in the league, and to play hard. 20 years later, the Devils have a great team attitude and 3 cups. The penguins have Mario and only 2. Finally, how could you dislike any team that featured Claude Lemieux, that guy was always entertaining to watch. I bleed the Bleu, Blanc et Rouge, but the Devils are cool too.

ch for life
When we win the next two games we are #1 in the league a quarter of the way through the season...
