They didn't give up anything to sign him, and he's costing them only $70K for the season at this rate. But would you consider him to be a disappointment, if he can't crack the top two in Laval, even if it's his first year in North America? Maybe a little bit - while I at one point thought he could be in the backup mix (before they got Allen), that tune changed when he talked about possibly seeing action in the ECHL. That told me they were taking a longer-view look at him. Now, should he be ahead of McNiven at this point? I'd hope he is although they may just be giving McNiven the benefit of the doubt early on, especially after how he was treated last year. I'd like to see Demchenko move up on the depth chart but it may take a little longer than I expected to get there.
