BTH
Pat Hickey rpeorts that Kostitsyn, Murray and Cote were all sent back down for Hamilton. The players will be back by next Saturday so they're no longer needed.
mathieug
Yep, good call. They have to play. They won't improve by playing 1 shift/game. OK, JP played almost 5' last night. Murray 0'00". Over the entire season Perezhogin is playing an average of 10'18", pleks 12'55", higgins 11'13", streit 12'32" and JP has 8'37". Max Lapierre 3'07". Kostitsyn -1' and Ivanans +2'. Liked what I saw from Coté. Perezhogin to Hamilton for a week (rumoured)?
Leafs Suck
Perezhogin has to clear waivers. Gainey isn't fallin for that one again.

True, if he has to clear waivers he's not going anywhere. Maybe he will visit the Casino, Mount Royal or the Botanical Gardens but definitely not Hamilton. Tony_
I'm still pissed that Kosty only played one shift in each game. What the hell was that.
CoRvInA
they played with three lines... winning the game meant more to CJ than those two rooks..

Lots of ice time, built up confidence and have them ready for next Saturday.....:hlogo:

JMMR
Yeah I agree. Dogs are struggling. Send down some of our guns that dont have to clear waivers and let them dominate.
Dutch_Habs_Fan
I dunno, why can't they practice with the team a whole week and maybe get a little bit of chemistry, so you dont have to depend on 3 lines. Thats what i would do!
CoRvInA
hehe love that word DOMINATE!!! :ghg:
PMAC
I don't think that Higgins or Perezhoghin are going anywhere. A well deserved break followed by some good practices with their teammates will do them much more good than playing in Hamilton. Kost and Murray didnt play. Dags scored two goals and the team won. Mission accomplished. Would anyone be happy if those two had played and made a rookie mistake that cost us the game. A prudent move by CJ. I must say though, having just (mostly) sat through a veterans rugby tournament by an over-competitive coach that I really sympathized with Murray. To be so close to playing for MTL and not leave the bench AAARGH It must have been hard for him, especially with his parents there.
les_glorieux
cj really should have put him out there for at least one shift. just the minimum. cause that must have been the worst thing ever to sit through an entire game and not play. Rooster
They also save on cap room by sending them down. Keeping them on the active roster for an inactive week, just takes cap space. Teams like Vancouver (that are right up against the cap) do this regularly........call them up for a game, send them right down after, call them up for the next game. It must be hell on those players.

No. But I recognize the need to give rookies playing time. You don't learn much by sitting on the bench.
RobRock
Sending them down would only be for cap purposes, and I'm pretty sure it would be explained to all of them that it's only for that reason. The players who have been in Montreal since October will be back.
Makh2o
I don't think keeping them here for the week would benefit anyone....the players had Sunday and Monday off, and then they're practicing for the rest of the week. I'd rather see them in Hamilton, on their team, working on their own chemistry... As for Higgins and Perezhogin, this week off will benefit them as well. Especially Higgins who likes to work the corners and the cycle game. He has to be hurting a little. I expect both of them to come out flying on Saturday! It'll also be great to see Markov back in the line up!

Dutch_Habs_Fan
I know, just found it so thats good news. Sad to see Andrei go down again. He deserved more minutes. Hope he can do some damage in the AHL now!

habschris
Good one, But Theo isn't the only one who needs a beating. I think it's just part of the evaluation process, see if Ivanans is a real goon, NHL player or a carreer AHLer. I suspect Carbo wants to see everyone atleast for a few games. It will be interesting to see if Perezhogen gets a call up soon.
