Any news on Koivu? How's he doing with that flu? Hopefully he'll be back on saturday...

Go habs go! Let's see more of that Murray-Kostitsyn-Higgins!

I predict 4-2 Habs. Optimistic? Perhaps. Impossible? Nothing's impossible for the Montreal Canadiens. :)

why is it that higgins keeps getting stuck on the 4th line every game. You'd be hard pressed to find a harder working player on the ice every game (maybe with the exception of begin on some nights). Come on Julien, reward the guy for his great play, lets give him some more ice time.

I'll be cheering the boys on from the nosebleeds. Anyone else making the trip to the Frozen North?

My son, matsnaslundsuperfan, will be there to watch the game. He'll be up in the nose-bleed section too.

You may recognize him. He'll be the guy with the bowler hat, a rose in his lapel and an umbrella under his left (note that... left) arm.

Yeah and I'll be the guy wearing the oversized Theodore jersey fending off 5 Oiler fans all while singing Ole Ole Ole.

So matsnaslundsuperfan, what's with the getup?

This is a game that is impossible for the Habs to come out flat footed. These games are just too great, too exciting, and the Oilers always "bring it."

Yes, I just quoted a bad Kirsten Dunst movie. You wanna fight about it? Too bad! We shall do a dance-off instead. *busts out mad moves yo*

where was I? oh right, I was dancing. But enough of that.

Edmonton, great games. Wish I could watch this one.

Game Preview: Canadiens vs. Oilers

EDMONTON – After closing out a four-game homestand on a high note, the Canadiens will now play eight of their next 10 games on the road, making their first stop tonight in Edmonton. Montreal (16-8-5) got back on the winning track Tuesday night with an easy 5-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes, the Canadiens’ first victory by more than a goal on home ice this season.

Tonight, Claude Julien’s crew will be looking for their first road win since Nov. 4 in Buffalo. Since then, Montreal has lost five in opposing rinks, earning just two points in those games, with a shootout loss in Pittsburgh on Nov. 10 and an overtime loss to the Maple Leafs on Nov. 26.

The Oilers (16-11-4) head into tonight fresh off a 2-1 shootout loss to New Jersey on Tuesday. It was the second straight shootout loss for Craig McTavish’s squad, who suffered the same defeat at the hands of the Islanders on Saturday. Edmonton has now seen six of its last 11 games decided head to overtime or a shootout.

The Canadiens and Oilers meet tonight for the first time since Montreal posted a 4-3 win in the Heritage Classic on November 22, 2003. The freezing temperatures didn’t stop 57,167 fans from piling into the stands at Commonwealth Stadium on that historical evening, marking the largest crowd ever in NHL history. While the temperature will be much more comfortable this time around, the Canadiens success in the Oilers’ arena hasn’t been as warm over the last few years, as they’ve come out on the short end in their last four visits to Rexall Place.

No tuque necessary: Jose Theodore, who earned his 13th win of the season on Tuesday, won’t be wearing any additional head gear when he steps on to the ice for the 26th time this season. In his last start in Edmonton, the Canadiens’ netminder donned the infamous red tuque while turning aside 34 of 37 shots from the Oilers in the Canadiens’ win in the historic game. Theodore has faced the Oilers eight times in his career, posting a 4-4-0 record with a 3.69 goals-against average.

Souray gets his groove back: Sheldon Souray appears to have regained his form. After a rough start to the season where he recorded just three points in 17 games, the 29-year-old defenseman has seen his offensive numbers pick up of late. With his assist on Niklas Sundstrom’s goal on Tuesday, Souray earned his fifth assist in his last seven games.

Family reunion: Claude Julien will see a lot of familiar faces as the Oilers take to the ice tonight, having coached in Hamilton until he was promoted to the Canadiens’ bench in January 2003. Aside from the five former Bulldogs who made their NHL debuts this season, Julien will recognize seven former Bulldogs dressed in the Oilers’ jersey, including Jarret Stoll, Edmonton’s leading scorer with a career-high 27 points.

He's played in 90 games with the Canadiens in but Mike Komisarek will be facing the Edmonton Oilers for the first time in his young NHL career.
