Ryan Johansen was traded for Seth Jones.  Maybe you are thinking about Matt Duchesne who also had a terrible year this year.

I guess it's all MB's fault that Tavares wanted to go back home. Who else was comparable that he could have got?

Your not understanding its on Bergevin for not having a back plan, He's the gm.  As a gm target more than one UFA. If your top UFA target is taking to long cut bait and go to the next one before you lose out on everyone you try and target.

Sometimes, there is only one target. Only one player that you feel will improve your team while spending cap hit for him.  Otherwise, you stand still and keep your cap space.

So you are saying that since Tavares won't sign with you then you overpay for the next available center on the TSN top 30 free agents no matter how good they are ?  Sometimes it's better to save cap space than overpay (ie. we were able to sign Toffoli).  I think he did have a  back up plan and it's not looking  bad right now (ie Suzuki and KK), and they are not costing a fortune in cap space, not yet anyway.

How does anybody know that MB didn’t have a backup plan? The Free Agent has to want to come to Montreal. I’m sure there are plenty of free agents that MB (and all GMs) have talked to that just weren’t interested.

Also, can Toffoli just dominate Saturday night? Like score 3 or 4 and just blow out the Leafs. Please.

So let's get this straight. Bergevin didn't go after a top playmaking LD because Romanov was ready to be that guy. Now he's not that guy???

Really?

I always thought that the expectation for Romanov was to be a mobile, aggressive top 4 defenceman, not a power play specialist or a guy who would put up a lot of points.   Sometimes the media builds guys up too much.

You mean like he WAY overpaid for Alzner?

So Romanov sucks? He can skate, pass, shoot, carry the puck, and lay out 100% legal hits that make knees wobble.

Gustofsson and Merrill hardly played last night and didn’t even have their own pairing. They filled in when a rest was needed or on the PP.

What kind of Dman are you looking for Ducharme?

Look to how much Rasmus Sandin has helped the Habs this series to understand why Ducharme doesn't trust Romanov right now. There have been many occasions this season where Romanov has tried to do too much and it cost him and the team. The coaching staff have looked at his games leading up the playoffs and decided, "He'll hurt more than help."

There is an argument to be made that he should be in regardless of the growing pains, but the coaching staff (and management) have decided now is not the time to throw him into the fire.

I agree that is their thinking. Unfortunately all decisions from this club are made through the lens of not losing instead of trying to win.

We 100% should have started the series with KK, Caufield and Romanov in the lineup - especially on a team that can’t score.

Bad decisions made for bad reasons

TSN that’s hockey last night drew an interesting parallel between this series and last year’s series against Philly.

Price incredible both series

can’t score both series

Big breakthrough game 5 where we score and win.
Im hoping game 6 will have a different outcome.

Im not gonna complain about Ducharme until the season is over. Nothing but positivity because it would be glorious to win tonight and listen to leaf media lose their minds. And if we can pull off a game 7 win....

I fear tonight's Game 6 could be embarrassing ... I am not predicting a result but rather I fear a significant portion of the 2,500 will be cheering for the Leafs, having bought tickets on the resale market ...the same way they get so many fans into regular season games ... the Habs could have avoided the possibility by just continuing to honour front line workers ... hope I am wrong ...

That would be embarrassing as hell and I truly hope you are wrong.

What a nightmare! Losing big and getting eliminated while leaf fans cheer it all on - right in our own barn

Say it ain’t so!

Interesting point, does QC have any restrictions on inter provincial travel? Did quick check, appears not.

out here in Maritimes that wouldn’t happen unless Leafs fans had been here for a 14 day quarantine before the game haha, they’d deserve it at that point, kind of.

Totally agree the organization should have only given these tickets to fans (use Corp sponsorships to offset losses and generate good will).  Give them to sick kids, front line workers, former organization members, family. They missed a huge opportunity there for the sake of some relatively small amounts of money.

Ensure 2500 (or whatever number) of people who are there with full hearts of bleu, blanc et rouge. I’d even include a popcorn and beverage with each ticket, cannot put dollar value on that type of good will, loyalty.  It would spawn thousands more die hard fans and 10X return on investment down the road when word got out “organically”.

That would have been classy enough to fit in with / honour the history of the organization.

instead the “free market” reigns and tickets are stupid expensive on the secondary market, seems most tickets are simply being resold given how my were made available.  There was

no shortage last night when I did some pricing.

I love seeing live hockey at the bell centre but will never allow myself to spend those type of dollars out of principle (as in $1500 for upper bowl, $3k plus for lower).

Either way, go Habs go !!!

Any idiot with a few thousand dollars can buy a pair of tickets ... and we all know that most Leaf fans are idiots.

Yes there are risks to putting him in the lineup.

Are the risks greater than Merril and Gustafsson who were extremely sheltered all of last game?

I hope you are wrong too. That would be awful!!  How did they allocate the tickets?  First come first served?  Did season ticket holders get first crack?

Shame on Hab fans who would resell their tickets to a Leafs fan to make a few bucks!!!

Yes, because you can shelter Romanov and still have no idea what he's gonna do on any given shift. He's been in a feedback loop of struggles for week trying to do too much every game. He was given all the time in the regular season to figure it out and he didn't.

With Merrill you know he's not gonna overreach his abilities. With Gustafsson at least his defensive gaffes come with an actual ability to produce points and help the powerplay.

So how much has he actually improved the PP🤭

I believe they sell them to a ticket-site (e.g., StubHub), or perhaps post them with the site on consignment (i.e., re-seller gets a cut) ... still ... with only 250 tickets available it is disgusting to me that anyone would sell them ... but Habs HAD to have known it would happen.

I checked SubHub, they had 6 tickets left, 1,100  - 1,300 each.  There will be some Leaf fans there.
