Habs Fan in Edmonton
Excellent article, love the bits about Suzuki and Caulfield. Liked the story about Sutter, that's what good coaches do, they worry about the process less than the result because they know you will eventually get results if you play the right way. Yeah, that was my default assumption. But, I'm sure there is an NHL player out there somewhere who can write well.

The way it is written it seems like he wrote all of it himself. Commandant
None of that says he wrote it. Again usually its an interview with the player and then the writer puts it together.

Again, you're right, but when a site does an interview and then writes an article about it dont they typicall mention who actually wrote the article? Furthermore, when a staff writer does an article for somebody like that does the site normally create a writer profile page for a person that didnt write an article? The Players Tribune has admitted that this is what they do with their articles though. That's the whole gimmick of the site. All of their articles are "written" by the player. They don't credit anyone who is a writer. Toffoli came up with the concept for the article. He told the ghost writer all of the quotes in there. The ghost writer cleaned it up and made it into a readable article. This is the model for that website.

I fully realize that. However, when Toffoli says: "Had a great time putting this together" what context is that under? i.e. is he implying he contacted that site and asked them to interview him and write that article? What part did he put together exactly? His comment really makes no sense if he didnt write it.

Either the site contacted Habs PR Dept, or Toffoli's agent.... or the Habs PR Dept or his agent contacted the site. How it came together doesn't really matter. At some point Toffoli agreed to it. That said, All of the things in the article are Toffoli's thoughts, obtained from an interview. The ghostwriter takes those thoughts and assembles them into a coherent article. It is then sent to Toffoli (and likely his agent and Habs PR dept), who make any edits that might be needed and then they approve it and its published. He's not sitting behind a keyboard and writing this, a ghost writer is, but its all based on Toffoli's thoughts. Thats why he "had a great time putting this together"... he likely did a long interview with the ghost writer.
