HABS UFA

MAK

Recommended Posts

I just look at the habs contract status and noticed that we have 3 1/2 players who could become UFA:

Bulis

Koivu

sundstrom and

streit

what do you think will happen to them this season??

trade, sign or no offers at the end ??

I guess bob's priority Is Koivu but he could suprise us

Koivu will sign a multiple years contract.

Room will be made to accomodate Latendresse, Kotsistsyn and chiptchura and at least one real first line FA and one more if the youngs are not all ready.

Bulis, un-signed.

Sundstrom, un-signed.

Zednick traded for defensive upgrade or draft pick.

If Bonk is not trade for futur consideration they mite keep Sunny or Bulis then.

Dagenais will go un-signed as well.

Resign Koivu, the rest are expendable.

Streit was a failed experiment that cost us Hainsey.

Bulis and Sundstrom are overpaid junksters, whose spots can be filled by promising rookies or sophomore players ie., Plekanec, Higgins, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, Chipchura, Latendresse, Grabovski, Milroy, Locke., ect., ect.,

can someone verify, but as far as i remember, Ryder, Ribeiro and Dagenais will all be RFA this summer.....so since i doubt we will resign them (ribs and dags) or at least hope we don't, let's trade them first for a bag of fresh new pucks....Ryder we should sign long term.

Lots of moves can be made and I hope Bob starts sooner rather than later...hopefully Plex isn't out long

Yeah the Habs need Plex.

If he is out then Julien cannot scratch Ribero any time soon to give his head a shake.

I hope that Koivu will sign in Montreal, Ryder as well.

As for Bulis, Zed and Sunny, they all have their knocks.

Bulis cant score, neither can sunny, Zed rarely shows up and when he does its all him he seems to be distracted when he is on the ice.

Many of you underestimate two way forwards. Sundstrom isn't suppose to score. That's not his job. He plays defence better than many defenceman.

Koivu will be resigned. Sundstrom and Bulis will most likely get 1 year deals if they resign. Unless Gainey can find a good defenceman (I'm sure he can though) we'll be needing Streit as a depth d-man.

Of the RFA, Dagenais won't be resigned. Ribeiro will probably be traded by then and Ryder will be resigned long term.

To be correct here, I presume a '' two-way forward '' player should actually reasonably be quite good at scoring,.... to deserved that qualification.

'' Defensive forwards '' seems more appropriate for the player that Sundstrom seem to be at this stage in its carreer............which might even extent to Bulis and even Bonk.

Being unidimensional is never as good as otherwise.

Ya, Sundstrom is a one-dimensional defensive forward. But he's the best in the game at it. Bulis is two-way because he does have offensive talent just a bad shot. Bonk is by no stretch a one-dimensional defensive forward. He ha great offensive upside and if he starts going he can definitely start scoring goals. Remember, we're using him as a checker this year not as a scorer.

The thing is that there are a lot of people saying trade Bulis, Bonk AND Sundstrom. We need some defensive forwards. People complain about our weak defence and then they say get rid of the defensive forwards AKA the guys trying to help them out. If you fill a team with 4 scoring lines it'll lose. I think 1 of the 3 can be given up but not more than that. Not until we get a top defenceman atleast.

The trouble with the Habs remains the inability to score goals. The team needs defensive players up front as well as scorers who actually score with some regularity. I'm amazed that people actually are unhappy with Ryder when he's the only forward scoring at a resonable rate.

We need players who will actually do what is expected. We desperately need point men on the PP who can fire the puck on net. We need players with moderate hands who will go to the net and fight for the puck on the boards.

I like what I see from most of the rookies but I realize the problem rests squarely on the shoulders of Ribs, Zednik, Dagenais, Bonk, and Bulis who are underperforming offensively by a large margin.

I agree that the offensive depth is to shallow to win,.. never mind to please the connoisseur.

With almost two years worth of free agent available to GM's of the league last fall, I believe Bob

should have concentrated on elliminating at least one weak aspect this team as carried for many

years now........its offensive depth,....or more accuratly... its lack of it.

The specialist's power ranking as kept the CH on the low part of their chart despite the CH's strong

start of the season........they could see that despite the number of victorys accumulated that this

team was no scoring machine.

They could see that our goaltending was somewhat average.

They could see that our defensive corp where average.

They could see that our team was neither a gritty bunch or a big bunch.

They could see that our power play might just end-up being an average one.

They could therefore see that under adverse situations ( injuries ) the boat could sink easily.

With a bundle of variously priced FA available and a new offensive friendly league upon which to

performed......Bob went statu quo....keeping Zednick for first line duty and Dagenais for

second line duty.

Since no one would ever expect a NHL's first line to be in the greatest of shape if Zednick is

one of its main elements and the same for Dagenais as a second line fixture.....I feel Gainey

as under-played its role this fall........knowing that power play opportunities

would have doubled in number in a year of new restricted rules on hoocking.....its was all too

clear, it seems, what the importance of having hight calibre players on our two first lines would be.

The fact that Gainey as failed to dramaticaly bolster the offensive element of our team under

those very favorable circumstances makes me wonder if we are ever going to have a team that

can play any kind of exciting hockey here.

Who will he sign or not depend very much on his vision... but I find myself less

interested about it than I used to be.

therefore would have gived, as a

result....an umprecedent

Koivu, Bulis and Sundstrom will definitely get offers. At least two of them will return, maybe all three. If Streit doesn't start getting some points, I think he goes home after this season. Julien seems to not have much confidence in him at full strength, and he's done very little on the power play that would set him apart from Rivet, Bouillon or Dandenault.

I canT' stand sunny's play...He doesn't bring anytime to the team. garth murray can do a similar job and he brings grit and toughness...two things we lack of

sign koivu and let bulis and sunny walk if they wont accept fourth line money and one or two year contracts.

YEs and No

first things first... Rookies rookies .. we either use em or lose em and if we lose em we try and get something for them ... its past management doings that BG is dealing with .. after this year its all clean sheet for BG.. at trade deadline you will see things moving for better... No cup in mind for BG this year but next wait and see!... he has to conectrate and get us into playoffs without miss looking any one of ourparts and that means not get rid of of Zed and Dag without analysing them to the full!

Whatever... keep Koivu! The others would be nice (especially Bulis) but I wouldn't lose sleep.
