I think it's because he stopped skating. Tucked his elbow. Did not leave his skates until after contact. Initial contact was high chest, possibly part of the head. The part he's in denial about is that he was going way too fast! He made no attempt to stop the goal. He was mad about getting singled out from the previous scrum. And he obviously wanted to send a message for next game. If that was a legal hit, then the rules need to be changed.
