No no, the “na na” chant has long been used to close out games, not just series.

The “les Canadiens sont la” song? Now that is something that only comes out when we win you-know-what.

Oh what id give to hear that song again..

That being said, they better open the border soon.

If they miraculously make a run and pull off a title of epic proportions I HAVE to be able to bring my kids to Montreal.

(I’m also seriously considering taking a trip from Connecticut to Vegas or Colorado to watch a game or two)

I remember the song most from when they knocked out the Nords in that fight filled comeback playoff game. The forum was rocking that night!

Stanley Cup Parade in 1993. “Les Canadiens sont laaaaa” would periodically come out as we were milling around. I remember thinking it was really cool that there was this song that had been passed down from generations of winning, just waiting to be used on that day. Seeing Muller on the truck...high-giving Mike Keane...ah, memories.

If my memory serves me correctly were you not at the Forum for game 5? (Standing room)

We have rested D in Romanov who can come in now ...

In theory ... but with the way AR seems to become persona non grate might they go 5 D and 13 forwards ... 98% tongue-in-cheek

I heard Dom talk about Romy a recent interview.  Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like we will see himat any point in the playoffs.  If somebody else gets injured it might be possible, but they will play Kulak, Gustafsson & Merrill over Romy.

The reason why Romy isnt playing is Dom basically said in the playoffs players take it to the next level.  Every round players essentially need to play better than they did in the last round.  They have determined that Romy isn't capable of being able to do that yet.  i.e. his best play this year wasn't at that level, so he's unable to kick it up a notch each round.

I was at Game Two - standing room - the McSorely stick. Greatest single hockey moment of my life, and probably the single most intense mood-swing of my life as well. We went from abject despair for most of the third to complete ecstasy in a split second when Desjardins scored to tie it near the end. Beers flying, complete strangers hugging each other and jumping up and down, guys running down the corridor going bananas...we went into the intermission KNOWING we were gonna win in OT. Unbelievable

I was at Game Five, yes - also standing room. Kind of a boring game, but nothing tops seeing Patrick Roy facing you, raising the Stanley Cup, and bellowing in triumph.

At the riot after as well, but got the f**k out when it started to get crazy.

And finally, I made the Cup parade for sure.

I was in my early 20s at the time and old enough to know exactly how precious those events were. NOTHING was going to keep me away. I would have quit my job rather than miss them.

Do I wish that today’s fans could have that kind of peak hockey experience, just once? Brother, you know it.

I wish I had a chance to go to Montreal for playoff games or fir a cup win. As it is, I‘be been to 4 or 5 games at the Bell centre, when i had to travel to Montreal for work, so never got to go the forum.

You must be around the same age. I was 22 at the time and turned 23 later that year.  Back than 7 years between cups seemed like a long time!!!

Caufield put lots pucks on net and Lehkonen had 7 shots.

Hope they can keep playing the same.

Lekhonan was amazing tonight. He’s been solid defensively, but he was also dangerous offensively today as well.

Geez, I think we have almost the same birthday! I’d have been 23 that autumn :)

At that time, a lot of Habs fans were frustrated because the franchise was no longer a dynasty. Unlike many of my friends, I felt they were doing well to be annual contenders, and I appreciated that Stanley Cups were not going to be a regular appearance in any city any more, so like I say, I milked every moment of the 1993 run. I’ll confess, though - I never dreamed we would spend the next 25 years mired in mediocrity. Oh well, time wounds all heels, as Nick Lowe says. Let’s enjoy 2021!!

I went to every playoff game that year. I worked at a Radio Shack, and went in on the Saturday mornings when the tickets went on sale, because we still had a rotary phone at home, and we had SPEED DIAL and TWO phone lines at the store. My boss was also a Habs fan, so we’d both get on a line and whoever got through first bought 4 tickets. First round, I was late to the party and got standing room only tickets. For the other rounds, got first row whites over Roy’s net.

I remember driving my car, hanging out one window, and my buddy hanging out the passenger window and holding a Habs banner over the roof of the car. We got pulled over, of course, and the cop asked me what I was doing. I said celebrating! He said celebrate all you want, but when you’re driving, stay inside your car.

The first couple of times I went across the border and said I had tickets, the border patrol folks didn’t believe me, and made me park and go inside so they could verify.

I was already a Habs fan for life, but that moment, that feeling, being early 20s, zooming around Montreal, high fiving strangers...ahhhhh.

Yep. I didn’t think we’d win in 93’ with the Pens team. But that year we didn’t have to face them. I also didn’t want to face Gilmour wasn’t afraid of the Leafs - just Gilmour! He was a habs killer in 89’. Turned 23 at the end of fall that year as well!

this year, at the start of the year, I thought this is the best chance if getting into the final 4, because of the divisional alignment and the fact there really was no real powerhouse or perfect team in the North. I  was worried about the D.  After the way the year went, I thought we had no chance in hell. So yeah, it’s great to be a win away from the final 4 and five from the finals!

I knew they would win in 93 & 86, and the 89 loss didnt really upset me either.  The Flames deserved to win once, as did the Jets really.   I knew Pitts wouldn't win 3 in a row and changing their jersey guaranteed that.

I was 17 in 93.  Any of you that went to games are really lucky.  That must have been awesome.  I saw all of the games on TV, but I had to watch them with Leafs fans.  None of them thought the Habs had any chance.  The further that Habs got some of them started to think that there might be a Leafs Habs final.

How do you know Dom? If you don’t play him?

So although I’m 45 and have technically been alive for their last 6 cups, I’ve never watched them win live (in person or even on TV)

I’ve been a die hard fan since I can remember but in ‘86 we left from Quebec for a 2 month family trip to Greece right after the conference finals with the Rangers. I was fortunate enough to have been in the Forum for game 5 against New York but had to resort to Short Wave radio searching to find out if they actually won the cup.

In 1990 we moved to Greece so I basically followed the team through 2 day old USA Today newspapers.

I moved back to Montreal in 94’ for University but we’ve been pretty futile since.

Now I’m living in the US and knowing my luck they’ll go on a tear and win it all this year and I still won’t be able to take my kids (who are also die hard fans by default) to the damn parade!!!

My memory is that the chant was for when the Habs eliminated teams ... which back in the day meant 4 times every spring ... sweetest after eliminating the BBs ... but then my memory isn't hear it used to be

Incorrect...

They would sing it any chance they got... in the 1st the 2nd periods even. It was part of the habs swagger... That was our song until one day we decided to chant soccer chants instead  in the mid 90's I believe we converted to Ole

I'd love for the roof to be blown off the rafters tonight with nah nah nah nah

Who would have thought that this series might be over before the Avs-Knights series when the Avs were up 2-0?  I have been around long enough and should know that strange things happen in the playoffs.

Hope the Avs can win that one.. just a better matchup for Montreal if they get through Winnipeg.

Use Danault line vs MacKinnon.

Vegas is deep and way more talent on Defense.

Part of me wants to find out if our Dmen can be hard on Vegas forwards and bring about the mythical Patio Ready.

And in my whole life I never heard anyone describe Vegas as "deep".  Did they exchange some casinos for libraries?
