I DONT KNOW ABOUT ALL OF YOU BUT I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT THE TEAM IS PLAYING VERY POORLY AND BG WHO ICONSIDER A GREAT HOCKEY MIND IS STANDING BY AND LETTING IT HAPPEN. IF YOU DONT WANT TO MAKE A TRADE THEN SEND THE PLAYERS WHO ARENT PERFORMING TO THE MINORS AND GET THERE HEAD OUT OF THERE ASSES. IF IWERE BG AND SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS I WOULD UTILIZE WHAT I HAVE AS EXPENDABLE ASSETS AND MAKE SOME DEALS TO BETTER THE TEAM NOW NOT WHEN ITS TO LATE AND WE ARE OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS ALTOGETHER. SO I GUESS WHAT IM GETTING AT IS THIS WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT A TRADE ON THIS FORUM FOR A LONG TIME BUT MY QUESTION IS THIS WHEN IS IT GOING TO HAPPEN I MEAN AS MUCH AS LOVE BG THE TIME IS NOW PULL THE TRIGGER BRING SOME CHEMISTRY TO A TEAM THAT IS IN DESPERATE NEED

I don't think we ca expect anything major but we,ll have to make room for plekanec. I don,t think a guy like murray will be sent down...If anything, he might trade talent for grit or size like he did went he traded for murray.

can anybody tell me the trade deadline this year?

I'd bet Gainey will make a significant move. I think we have the cap room, there are very few on the team who are 'untouchable' as far as trade bait (just some of the rookies), and Gainey will insist that this team makes the playoffs at a minimum... or at least he won't be accused of not doing everything possible to make the playoffs.

He's finding out fast that the coach wasn't the problem.

The way da habs are playing, who would want our crappy players? I can see some1 looking to pick up ribs in exchange 4 size, but theo's trade value is as high as a bag of used rubbers... i just hope / pray theo dont end up like jim carey

My short list of players who need to go NOW:

-Theo

-Zednik

-Bonk

-Vagenais

-Ribs (he can stay if he continues to play like last nite... which is highly doobious)

That first post. What was it about?

Anyway, I respect Gainey and the organization but I do think that the team needs something. He fired Claude Julien and stepped down himself. Gainey might be a better hockey coach but it will not fix the problems.

The Habs miss one winger. Zednik is a second liner whos has been on the Habs first line for some years. He scores some goals but who wouldn't on a line with Kovalev and Koivu?

The defence is underrated but still not as good as one could hope for. Craig Rivet (who is playing his best hockey ever) should be number 4 or 5.

As I see it Richard Zednik, Radek Bonk, Jan Bulis, Saku Koivu and the prospects are they only that could get us something in return. Koivu won't be dealt as long as it's not for a younger, better and cheaper first line center, and thoose doesn't exist. The prospect won't be traded cause they are the ones that will bring a new cup to Montreal and they are all different and therefore much more valuble to us. - The whole being greater than the parts...

So.. Richard Zednik, Jan Bulis and Radek Bonk... Pack two of them and land a first line leftwinger.

you do understand that in order to send veteran players to the minors they need to clear waivers first right? meaning any team could just take them for nothing. yes i can see it now koivu, kovalev, zednik, ribero, and theodore all on waivers. Hmmm i wounder what would happen? A trade is coming but its not gonna be a huge blockbuster. For the simple fact that we do not have anyone to use as bait now. too many players giving a half assed effort on a nightly basis

I agree with the Habs needing to make a move, but I don't think Zednik, Bulis or Bonk separatley or together will bring back a first line winger.

Unfortunatley Montreal needs to make a decision and make it in the next two weeks or so. They need to decide if they want to make a push for the playoffs or pack it in, develop some talent and wait till next year.

If they decide to make a push for the playoffs then they need to make a significant trade. Yes they need to deal for a First line winger and a top 3 defensman, and it'll take a lot more then Bonk, Bulis and Zednik.

It could very well involve Koivu, Ribeiro, Theodore (in which case a #1 goalie has to come back the other way), Bonk, Bulis, Zednik, and one or more of the youngsters like Chipchura, Perezhogin, Higgins, Plekanec, Carey etc....

I'm not sure what rumours are hot right now but the whole season it seems Tampa Bay, Edmonton, Vancouver and Colorado have been rumoured to want a front line goalie and Luongo situation in Florida seems to be shakey. THey may not admit it, but when a guy turns down a $30 Million deal, after being taken to salary arbitration after wanting to sign with the team, something just isn't right. Luongo must want out.

Deal #1

To Montreal To Florida

Luongo Theodore

Horton Zednik

Bouwmeester Ribeiro

Perezhogin

1st OR second round pick..whatever it takes

Yeah I know this deal willnot happen. First its a steal, second too much salary going back Floridas way, and third Florida doesn't get a decent defenceman.

Deal #2.

To Montreal To Colorado

Tanguay J. Theodore

Not impossible, but Colorado can probably get Biron out of Buffalo cheaper

If Deal two did happen, somehow Montreal would have to pick up Biron out of Buffalo, perhaps in a 3 team trade as Buffalo will not deal Biron to a divisional opponet.

ALso if deal 2 did happen, Montreal would have to make another trade to clear out the glut of forwards.

Perhaps package a deal for a top four defensman.

I don't like anything Edmonton has to offer unless it include Hemsky, that Bergeron kid jsut isn't big enough, and seems to be a powerplay specialist.

And well if they decide to stand pat and fall out of the playoff race, hopefully they'll dump some of the vets for prospects and draft picks and rebuild again.

I think we need something along the lines of this to skake it up a bit.(not saying the trades gonna happen but its a thought)

To Columbus:

Ribeiro

Zednik

2nd round pick

To Montreal:

Klesla

Call up perezhogin...get plekanec back...then lines are as follows:

Forwards:

Perezhogin Koivu Kovalev

Higgins Plekanec Ryder

Bulis Bonk Sundstrom

Kostitsyn Begin Murray

Defence:

Souray Markov

Klesla Boullion

Dandenaut Rivet

Goalies:

Theodore

Call up Dagenais as backup...wait a minute......then he doesnt have to skate.....its a perfect fit

I agree for the most part with your list. i would like to see ribeiro, dagenais, zednik, and bonk go. i like zednik and i think he's a good goal scorer but he just doesn't show up often enough.

i don't think you necessarily have to get a first line player in a trade. just some players who are willing to work.

i'd also like to see the rookies get more ice time.

Thanks for the link. Interesting to read Bob saying that (and I paraphrase) he's not sure that all of his players understand what they're capable of doing for the team. His whole argument seems to be that these players have to reach their full potential as individual hockey players. But the players themselves may have internalized their own mediocrity, or else they're looking around for someone *else*, some other player, to take charge and lead them out of the wilderness.

What he's describing, then, is a young and/or insecure team that is too accustomed to losing fully to grasp that only they have the capacity to change things - AND that they do indeed have the talent to become winners.

Effecting such a cultural shift on the team will, I suspect, take a good long time. But acquiring a Stanley Cup champion veteran or two - Mike Keane types - might help the process along. Just a thought.

Very True.....the mike kean types would be exactly what this team needs.....players like sundstrom and bonk should be these average veterans that take control of the locker room and bring a positive, hard working and confident atmosphere to the team which is what habs are lacking ......koivu can only take them so far....and im not doubting his leadership skills....but he needs some help......so bring in a guy like a goeff sanderson, rod brindamour, tom fitzgerald, trevor linden, kris draper, Joe Niewendyke, Gary Roberts(loss of those 2 are why the leafs also look lost and unguided this year), Dave Andrechuck, u get the gist of it :hlogo:
