Habs77
For next year I see: - more offense: Hossa/Ribs instead of Gilmour/Petrov, Audette/Perreault/Czerk can only go up from here (if they're still here), Koivu/Zed/Bulis in same ballpark. - better defense: Souray/Komi/Hainsey? for whole year over Traverse/Dykhuis/Breezer - improved grit: Dwyer,Souray,Komi, healthy Rivet,Ward... Hossa also improves size on top lines. A healthy McKay could help more there too (compared to how much he helped last year, not hard to improve on that). - better goaltending: Theo just has to be. - better team chemistry: CJ coach from start of year takes control of team, a little less over-crowded with Gilmour/Petrov gone (hopefully more will go before start of year), unhappy Hackett gone, Breezer gone. - better coaching from the start of the season: CJ's first training camp to make team his own. So I see improvement in all areas... And yet that doesn't mean we'll make the playoffs, we definitely can... but we can definitely miss out too. Atlanta/NYR are two more teams that should contend for the playoffs and should be much improved over this year... plus all the playoff teams. So who knows if we'll make the playoffs, but we will be a better team next year. Then again... if we dump some of our depth to save $$ and then unlike last year the injury bug hits a top player like Koivu for example, well good luck chum. That's why they play the games, in the end anything can happen... just look at the Ducks/Wild. :ghg:
puck7x
Good post. Like you I feel that the habs cant do much worse then they did last season , like you said a full-season under CJ (plus training camp) will help the team ALOT , we'll finally see his system in place. Another improvement will be the special teams , because well... They cant get much worse can they? (Think Charron returns?)
