mathieu30
The 2000-01 QMJHL coach of the year joins Dogs. http://www.hamiltonspectator.com/pdfs/20060203/SP6.pdf Montreal Canadiens assistant general manager Andre Savard said adding Francoeur to the Bulldogs coach staff was in no way a reflection of the job being done by head coach Don Lever or assistant Ron Wilson. "Absolutely not," said Savard. "It wouldn't matter if we were in first place or fifth place. We're doing this as a favour to Francoeur." Savard said Francoeur's agent contacted the Habs about a position in the organization because he wanted to be with a team where he would be forced to improve his English The Habs are not paying him a salary in Hamilton, but will take care of his accomodation and meals. Lever said they haven't really worked out what Francoeur will be doing with the club yet. Francoeur was head coach and general manager of the Cataractes for nine seasons compiling a record of 360-241-55. He was QMJHL Coach-of-the-Year in 2000-2001when his team went 54-10-6. Trizzak
Makes you wonder if Lever or Wilson will make the jump to an NHL assistant coach for the Habs next year, and Francoeur is being acclimatised to the team. Or it's nothing.

Or it's nothing. Just look like some sort of "immersion internship" so Francoeur can improve his English. If you're a coach and your English is iffy, your career is basically limited to the QMJHL. Can't even coach in the national programs (u-18, u-20, etc.)
mathieu30
Since Francoeur joined the Hamilton Bulldogs' coaching staff the Bulldogs have collected 9 wins and only 6 losses. Sudden improvement?
