jetsniper Posted July 11, 2006 Share Posted July 11, 2006 No, Price was going to be the backup but got cut because of that. Pogge was starting since the beginning of the WHL season. With the stats he was putting up with Calgary, there was no question who was starting. It also helps that Red Deer is an hour away from Calgary and the Hitmen and Rebels play each other a lot. Sutter got to see Pogge in action many times before the selections had to be made. It also showed consdiering Pogge took home the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy, Del Memorial Trophy and was named the CHL Goaltender of the year. Price never had the starting job.
