habsfan88
I've been told by a friend who knows someone in the Navy that the Atlantic's water is usually somewhere around 4°C, which is cold. Hope for the best but expect the worst. If there is any solace in this fatality, it is that she was doing was she loved. The HabsWorld family sends its heartfelt support to the Gainey family. Yes, you are correct. I didn't mean "warm" water, but apparently their boat was in a "warm" section of the ocean where the temperature was around 22 degrees, so that's much warmer than 4 degrees....cold none the less.... Let's hope for the best.

Let's hope for the best. Yes, your right. The were riding through the gulf stream to the caribbean...and I guess the current causes the occasional large wave. The Gulf stream shoots across the Atlantic towards England...which is why Great Britain is so much warmer than the east coast of Canada. Anyway, with a life jacket she could sustain being in the water for over a day without getting hypothermia.

Spider-Man NL
NAVAL PRAYER O eternal Lord God, who alone spreadest out of the heavens, and rulest the raging of the sea; who has compassed the waters with bounds until day and night come to an end; be pleased to receive into thy almighty and most gracious protection the persons of us thy servants and the fleet in which we serve. Preserve us from the dangers of the sea, and from the violence of the enemy; that we may be a safeguard unto our most gracious sovereign lady, Queen Elizabeth and her dominions, and security for such as pass on the seas upon their lawful occasion; that the inhabitants of our commonwealth may in peace and quietness serve thee our God; and that we may return in safety to enjoy the blessings of the land, with the fruits of our labours, and with a thankful remembrance of thy mercies to praise and glorify thy holy name; through Jesus Christ our lord. PB
This is terrible,..there is no worst moment than what they must be going throught right now....another life shattering experience for the Gaineys.....most be an unbearable situation for Bob who played a solo role with his children after the lost of Cathy when she was 39 of age,.....he admitedly told La Presse earlier this year that raising his children has been his last great passion in life.......devastating news. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
I have a two-year old daughter. If I were Bob I'd be going out of my mind. Especially as the prognosis is NOT good. For such a successful person, Gainey has endured unspeakable personable tragedy, with both his wife and now his daughter. My heart goes out to the man. (Between this and Koivu's cancer, I sometimes wonder if the Bell Centre is built on an old Indian burial ground.)
beliveau1
Fair Isle At Sea - Robert Louis Stevenson FAIR Isle at Sea - thy lovely name Soft in my ear like music came. That sea I loved, and once or twice I touched at isles of Paradise. Crossing the Bar - Alfred, Lord Tennyson Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar. Our hearts and prayers are with the Gainey family..... Edited December 11, 2006 by beliveau1
Habstown
Horrible I hope at least that they find her body so they at least get to know. Indeed, hope they find it... at least we know if she alive or dead instead of not having the body coming back home which is even more painful for the whole family. Pierre the Great
yeah finding the body is very crucial. Gives a family something to mourn. When I heard about this the first thing that came to my mind was Michel Trudeau's accident. Sad. I hate it when things like this happen. heart breaking. Athlétique.Canadien
yeah finding the body is very crucial. Gives a family something to mourn. When I heard about this the first thing that came to my mind was Michel Trudeau's accident. Sad. I hate it when things like this happen. heart breaking. It reminded me of John F. Kennedy Jr. I keep hoping and praying for the family. It's really unsettling that nothing good is emerging. This pic just breaks my heart
Pierre the Great
with JFK Jr. there was a plane you find the plane you find jr. This is much harder to deal with because we are dealing with a woman who was thrown overboard. In any case I feel for the family. I've never gone through having someone go missing but I've seen people slowly wither away like Gainey's wife did. Its very sad and depressing. Life can be very cruel.
