dlbalr
It has been a long two plus months since the since ended but tonight, the Habs will finally get to reap the benefits of their struggles as they make the 9th overall pick in the draft. (Unless they trade it, of course.) Montreal holds the following picks over the next two days: 9th Overall39th Overall45th Overall70th Overall 100th Overall124th Overall160th Overall We'll use this thread to discuss the picks that are made (by the Habs and otherwise); any trades by Montreal will get their own thread of course. The fun gets underway at 7 PM EST tonight, Sportsnet, TVA Sports, and NBCSN have the coverage. Day two kicks off at 10 AM EST. Sportsnet has coverage there (not sure about elsewhere). habs rule
Seems pretty quiet right now, not much to talk about.
DON
Oh well, gotta record the draft and check it out later...someone had the nerve to schedule a pig-roast on draft weekend. Come on, fingers crossed ...from the Penticton Vees of the BCHL...
dlbalr
Apparently this is a potential trade idea sheet for Tampa Bay at 27. Montreal's name pops on there:
Trizzak
As expected, Austin Matthews goes 1st overall.
Trizzak
Lars Eller to Washington for Washington 2nd round picks in 2017 and 2018 Andrew Shaw to Montreal for two 2nd picks this draft (I think)

zumpano21
Surprised that a contender team would want Eller. Emelin and Desharnais - look out!
Trizzak
I wonder if the Habs trade down now that they gave up two 2nds this year.
Trizzak
Dubois goes 3rd. Wow.
JGC21
Wow, Andrew Shaw. Word on the street is Chicago was trying so hard to re-sign him. He's considered irreplaceable in Chi-town. Man, being up against the cap has really forced the Blackhawks to jettison good young players over the years. So is Shaw now our 2nd line center? Habsfan84
Dubois goes 3rd. Wow. That's a shocker. Edmonton could get quite a bit more for their pick now if they wanted

TurdBurglar
Guess this means the Subban trade isn't gonna happen. This is why Montreal wanted the pick, the player is gone, no need to pull the trigger on the 4th?

Phew On Shaw, according to this he is MUCH better suited to be on the wing. http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2015/8/31/9229947/blackhawks-top-prospect-rankings-andrew-shaw-scouting-report-future-2015

hab29RETIRED
well Keller is gone.
John B
It's getting easier for the Habs to make a selection with Keller gone. Only two players left that were consistantly ranked in the top ten this season. I'm betting the Sabres are drafting Sergachev which would leave Nylander for the Habs. Guest Stogey24
Nylander may be an option now
John B
OH this is awesome. Habs better take Sergachev. He is the BPA and should be able to replace Markov a year or two from now.
