Habs at the Worlds

I really don't understand how Habs fans can cheer for Nashville. We own their pick, I want them out either now or next round.

I really liked them until they got a second Kostitsyn.

Rinne, Suter and Radulov is enough for me to cheer for them but meh, Detroit winning is preferable.

Because I couldnt bear to see the bruins or flyers win and from the west, Nashville probably has the best chance to beat them. If the caps at least knock off the bruins, then I don't care as much.

At least it's nice to see the Canucks on the ropes. I like the sedins, but can't stand most of the Vancouver fans I know.

Dont get the not cheering for a Canadian team? I will pull for any over an american based team and that even includes the hated Leafs, i have a dislike for leafs but if they were playing the Rangers or Philly i would pull for the most dysfunctional franchise in Canada.

Go Sens and Canucks go!

I couldn't care less if a franchise is Canadian. Take the Leafs. There is NO team, except possibly the Bruins, I would not cheer for against the Leafs. They cannot lose humiliatingly or often enough to suit me. People say to me, 'isn't it a shame the Leafs are so terrible?' I just laugh. Sure, I really want to see them in the playoffs, with the CBC and the national (i.e., Toronto-based) media going cowabunga over 'Canada's National Team' and all that tired footage of 1967 being dredged up from the toilet yet again. Screw that.

I don't want a team in Quebec City either. Why would I want that? So the French media can hold competititons to see which team is more French? So the Habs can have yet another rivalry, this one so vicious it ended Pierre Mondu's career? So the Habs can be so beat up coming out of a playoff series that they have no chance going forward? Non merci.

Habs29 is correct, the Canucks do have an irritating fan base. It's characterized by chronic and constant whining and self-pity. They feel horribly put upon and unfairly treated. They drone on about the 'Canucks' curse,' as though they've had it SOOOO much worse than fans in other cities, such as LA or Buffalo or San Jose. Meanwhile, they are congenitally incapable of appreciating that they've had an elite team for most of the past decade, that they've gone to the Finals once in each of the last three decades, and that they get to watch great players like the Sedins night after night. Heck, a good portion of the fan base has spent 10 years attacking the Sedin 'sisters.' And I can never forget that a substantial portion of them rose to the defence of that ape Bertuzzi when he ended Steve Moore's career - cackling that Moore was faking it, that he got what he deserved, that Bertuzzi was being unfairly treated, screaming 'we looove you Bert!!!', etc. Ignorant, classless turds.

The irony is, I don't mind these Canucks as a team. They've paid a lot of dues and are much closer to the type of hockey that the NHL should be playing (i.e., a brand of hockey not characterized by vicious attempts to permanently injure other players). But hoo boy, that's a fanbase that only a mother could love.

There are few things in hockey that annoy me more than "Sedin Sisters". Cindy Crosby is a part of that. I know you were just referencing it Cucumber but there's nothing wrong with being a woman in hockey so I just saw it as jerkoff men insulting a hockey player they don't like by calling him a woman. A friend of mine wrote an article about it and it was sad to see guys try to defend it.

I think you are a bit off-base, saying some classless acts by a minority extend to 'substantial portion" of Canuck fans, is the same as Booing the USA anthum and cheering an injury to an opposing player is typical of Hab fans.

By and large a Canuck/Flame/Hab fans are no different what so ever and are just typical Canadians, but we each have our own opinions and stereotypes eh.

I actually had thought Canucks would finally pull it off this year, but looks to be slim chance now. And with the Habs out, i am more concerned with my golf game and who the Habs will draft in June, than the playoffs.

Luke Schenn invited to World Championships, Josh Gorges not invited.

Kevin Lowe showing his great eye for defencemen that has led to finishes of 30th, 30th, and 29th place in the last 3 years.

Gorges was invited, declined due to injury.

I've heard Gorges didn't even get a phone call, but was leaning towards declining if they did call. Still gotta be better D than Luke Schenn who was atrocious this season. Someone on a first round loser could go too.

All I can find online right now is that he couldn't represent them due to injury. He was mentioned at the same time as Tyler Ennis which leads me to believe someone from Team Canada got in touch with him.

3/4 of the Olympic rosters are not involved in this tournament.

They are both run byt the IIHF and thus used in IIHF rankings.

That means that if Nashville go to the SC finals, Bielorussia is ######ed...

Don;t know for sure but on TSn 990 they mentioned Gorges got a call but declined due to injury. Also talk of Lowe inviting Murray to get a free look against NHL talent.

Et voilà !

Subban got hurt against Switzerland today and did not finish the game.

:wall:

The injury is not serious, but still...

"Never had this injury before, so it's a little frightening.

But hey, if it was serious, I wouldn't be here doing this interview"

*laughs*

*puts his serious face on*
