2014-15 NHL Season Thread

With the season starting today, it's time to bid adieu to the offseason thread.

Based on the opening night rosters, the Habs aren't the smallest team in the league. Instead, Carolina and the Rangers share that honour. http://mirtle.blogspot.ca/2014/10/2014-15-nhl-teams-by-height-weight-and.html

Any early predictions on what players/teams have big years? Lousy years?

Now is a great year to pick the Sharks to win the Cup. They look so cursed. Joe Thornton looks out of odds with everyone. So much talent for a team everyone is expecting to just choke again.

Gallagher and Desharnais are going to keep our height down while Price inflates it a bit. The tallest teams are an interesting bunch. Ottawa, Winnipeg, Arizona, Florida and then LA. Like phew. Strange company to be in.

nice slow start for Bruins

and Sabres should be auto-pilot wins this year for Habs and rest of league

Sens and Leafs arnt that good neither

good year to pile up some points early, if can somehow (unlikely is my guess) manage a win today, will be 4 or 5 ahead of Tampa also.

Slava Voynov was suspended indefinitely by the NHL today after he was arrested on charges of domestic violence. This is a big change from last year when Semyon Varlamov was charged with the league making no comment or taking any action whatsoever. It's safe to say the recent events in the NFL have changed how leagues deal with incidents like this.

I saw Chara left the Bruins game hurt and some Miller d-man also out hurt.

Bruins would have a much different look with the big man gone. And wouldn't win a lot neither, and they lost again, to Isles.

(might be an easy year in Division for Habs if Sens/Leafs/Sabres/Bruins/Panthers all suck)

Columbus is concerned that Nathan Horton's career could be in jeopardy as a result of his lingering back issues.

I've heard this rumour all summer.

Boston got out when it was good, same thing the Canadiens did with Komisarek.

Chara is out 4-6 weeks.

I LOVE YOUR SIGNATURE LINE!

Always fun to poke fun!

That Goudreau simply deaked jockstrap off d-man last night and that kid is gonna score a lot with his smarts/skill/speed. Early Calder choice for sure.
