CANADIENS (46-20-8) at JETS (38-24-12)

TV: RDS, SNE, TSN3

Season series: Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price had 29 saves in shutting out the Winnipeg Jets earlier this season. Lars Eller had the decisive goal.

Canadiens team scope: Goaltender Dustin Tokarski will start, coach Michel Therrien announced Wednesday after practice according to the Canadiens website. Tokarski made 41 saves in his most recent start, a 3-2 road win against the Florida Panthers on March 17. "We've got a plan in place when it comes to [Price]," Therrien said of his schedule for his No. 1 goaltender as the Canadiens prepare for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Therrien said he will not make any changes to the lineup he used in a 3-2 overtime road loss against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Montreal became the first team in the NHL to reach 100 points. The Canadiens have the third-best road record (22-12-3) in the League, and their 22 road wins rank second. The power play is 3-for-32 in its past 14 games and has not scored in the past four games. The Canadiens return home against the Florida Panthers on Saturday to begin a three-game homestand. They can clinch a playoff spot with a regulation or overtime win and if the Anaheim Ducks beat the Boston Bruins in any fashion, or if the Bruins beat the Ducks in a shootout. The Canadiens also can get in with a shootout win and any kind of Ducks win against the Bruins, or by getting one point against the Jets and the Ducks beat the Bruins in regulation.

Jets team scope: Center Bryan Little and defenseman Dustin Byfuglien each have missed nine consecutive games because of upper-body injuries; Winnipeg did not practice Wednesday, and a further update on each player's status will not be available until Thursday. The Jets start a four-game homestand in which they will face three of the top seven teams in the League. A 5-2 loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday ended a five-game winning streak; Winnipeg went 1-1-0 on its two-game road trip. Winnipeg holds the second wild card into the playoffs from the Western Conference and trails the Minnesota Wild by one point; the Los Angeles Kings are two points behind Winnipeg and hold a game in hand. The Jets had gone five games without allowing a power-play goal (15-for-15) before Vancouver scored on its only chance Tuesday. Winnipeg's homestand continues against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

On the injury front for Winnipeg, it looks like Byfuglien will play. Little is doubtful while Mathieu Perreault, who took the morning skate today, also won't play. Ondrej Pavelec is between the pipes for the Jets.

I bet the Kings aren't too pleased we're starting Tokarski rather than MVPrice?

I'm sure they're not too happy (although I think LA has their eyes more on Calgary than Winnipeg right now). It's the right move to make from Montreal's perspective though...the one that matters.

You know what I'd tell the Kings ?

Next time, start your season in October instead of January...

Did the same thing last year. L.A turned their scoring on in February and won the cup

Yeah I know. It's insane how much they've played with fire the past few seasons. This year, they might get burned.

Will Gallagher score for 4th game in a row?

Weise is 6th in forward scoring (good for him, not so good for Eller that he is), how will he do with Rose and Eller today, seems like might be good 3rd line and Weise should get more than 7 or 8 minutes of ice.

Max only 1g in last 5 games, needs a big scoring game.

With this being his 'hometown game,' I'm curious to see if he has that extra gear for this one.

Love Beaulieu on second PP. be nice to see Subban out whole time

Subban usually is more often than not. I'd like to see him play less than 1:45+ on a PP. With him logging tough minutes 5-on-5 and on the PK, even cutting his PP time to 1:15-1:20 per man advantage would be helpful, particularly later in the game. With Beaulieu, Petry, even Pateryn, there's enough to throw a passable second wave on the blueline.

And Byfuglien makes it 1-0 Jets.

Well than split Markov Subban up. Need a clapper on the point. I hate how Therrien feels the need to run the set 5 on 5 lines on the PP

Good period. Beaulieu and Gallagher looked great. Sportsnet was talking like Montreal was getting killed out there
