Weise and Fleischmann traded to Chicago

A random note - Chicago traded Troy Brouwer to Washington to get the pick used to take Danault. Between this and Bergevin's comment about Danault yesterday, it's safe to suggest that Bergevin is a really big fan of Danault.

Yes, Bergevin does seem particularly enthusiastic about this kid, specifically crediting himself with drafting him in the first place. Given that Danault was a first-round pick - not too far south of where that all-time great NHL defenceman Jarred Tinordi was drafted - he may have originally been conceived as a guy with some offensive upside. Grizzly's scouting acumen has thus far seemed pretty good (e.g., he identified Weise as a guy who was under-used, and was 100% correct) it'll be interesting to see whether he's got himself a nice player here.

Considering this guy is probably a lock to be better than most of our bottom 6 right away, and a 2nd rounder acquired too, this is a great deal to get out of 2 players that weren't going to be here next year anyway, end of story.

Considering todays trades thus far the value MB got back for Weise and Fleischmann is pretty good. Prices seem to all of a sudden be dropping.

The second rounder alone is solid in that trade. Wish it was for this year though

Package it up with dd and get something, anything.

He turned into a different player. Instead of a gritty 3rd/4th liner having a career year, he played more like a soft second liner. Like PAP, Ryder, or Briere.

Thinking this is the reason he wasn't what we needed to sign in that role, accurate assessment on Weise. The chip passes for turn overs, and the new "no hit" attitude he developed made him very trade-able to me.

In the end, I would rather see DeLaRose in the line up, for overall game. Maybe his scoring will increase, because he certainly creates chances.
