Prust - rose - pelly

Flynn - Mitchell - weise

Manny

Markov - subban

Beaulieu - petry

Gilbert - Gonchar

Weaver

Price

Tokarski

Not bad a lot of grit and speed in that line up. We are a team that rolls 4 lines and I think the trades today helped a lot.

Too bad about Doofus Eller in the top-6, but maybe he will catch fire again, who knows.

Despite my very lukewarm view of the Petry trade, I love the defence corps. And that's something I haven't said about ye Habs in a while. As a massive believer in building from the red line out, that configuration does me a power of good.

As good as Rosey has been, I can see him sitting or being sent down..

Pacs - DD - Gallagher

PAP - Pleks - Galchenyuk

Prust - Eller - DSP

Flynn - Mitchell - Weise

Malhotra/Rosey

i find it surprising that we picked up 3rd and 4th liners, I thought those positions were good already.

We have some of the best 3rd and 4th liners in the NHL. Trouble is, now we have 9 of them. We need a 5th line.

I don't know why people are worried about depth in the bottom 6. There is no conceivable scenario under which this hurts us. So good players will ride the pine or be in and out of the lineup for a few weeks - who gives a sh*t? What are you, their agent? It makes us a deeper team that's A-OK by me. Remember that many people now think Cups are won and lost as much by the bottom as the top-6. If so, that puts us in damned good shape.

While true (especially Mitchell, who was free), it doesn't necessarily help us, either. I think we were looking for some added firepower.

Hell yeah...

We now have NHL players to fill out the bottom part of the lineup, instead of undersized rookies, we have some guys who have some games played in the bigs.

But the deal for that just wasn't there. Still gotta add depth. Nine rolling Hamilton Bulldogs is not a fourth line you want to go into the play offs with.

Any body else think Rangers D 1 through 6 looks scarey?

I wouldn't give a damn about the extra baggage we are carrying on the bottom 6, if I was comfortable with our top 6 scoring. The problem I have is continuously adding to the bottom 6, without addressing our true need of an upgrade in the top 6.

I think the insulation of a great bottom 6 will actually help our top 6 perform better, the organization needed the added depth, and I think maybe the "top scoring winger" price was just too high in the end, if any were available at all...

MB said it. Top 6 forwards were not really available.

D is looking good. Top heavy. I for one am not big on Gilbert. Luke warm on Gonchar. (just because of his age) Have not seen enough of Petry, but from what i have heard he is top four on habs immediately.

Really like the top three of AM,PK,NB .........plus Carey!

If you look at the LAK model, Cups are now won by outclassing the other teams 3rd and 4th line. I have to agree that adding solid NHL guys to the 4th line today is a great move, and a great move done dirt cheap.

And while I would like to see our team improve it's scoring, it takes a REALLY special player to do that under Therrien's vice grip defensive system. There's no way a Kessel type would ever thrive here. We need a two way guy like Pacioretty (who's looking a little more Toews-esque btw) to score goals and play responsibly in the neutral zone and our zone. Those guys you pay through the nose for. It's better to draft them.

Sounds pretty plausible that a top six shooter was just too expensive. I like all the depth and trust that our boys knew just who to go after for the best character and fit. I'm quite OK with the process results. One does what one can and I think MB and his crew do it well.
