habs rule
It appears that someone found those pictures, cause the Habs have put Mayer on unconditional waivers with the purpose of terminating his contract. Sad for him but I never understood why he was with us in the first place. Maybe they are making room for budaji.

DON
I know this is a regular season tradition but break out the victory banana! Maybe he can get a goaltending gig with Leafs? Anyways, got to be an upgrade for the Dogs and Condon must be smiling today.
BlueKross
I would like to see someone step to the plate and explain why he was ever resigned. This smell really FOUL.
dlbalr
I would like to see someone step to the plate and explain why he was ever resigned. This smell really FOUL. My guess? At the end of last year, he was the #3 behind Budaj - we saw that not only at the end of the playoffs when he dressed for Game 5 vs Ottawa but also in how they almost made Tokarski hold out to try to get even a small raise on his AHL salary. Obviously they still saw something in him. Between that, the uncertainty with Condon (not really knowing how ready he may or may not have been), and the fact that Delmas is just ECHL depth, there's enough of an argument to keep him. (Of course, this is speculating what the organizations' rationale was, we all knew that bringing him back was a terrible idea at the time.) Yeah, if i remember he was already gone to Europe and for what ever reason they let him back. It was a little more than re-upping? I don't really think we will ever find out what happened. Commandant
Maybe the last goalie coach saw something in him (something that none of us saw)....He was re-signed before Groulx was fired and before Waite came aboard. Groulx was also part of the previous regime, and that was a regime that also had some faith in Mayer. Now with Groulx gone, Waite has seen that this guy is crap. Now that he is gone, i think you would be within your rights to submit a final bill of damages to the Dogs, as far as viewership goes. I wonder how that would play? So Brian how does that work? can they just tear up his contract and kick him out the door or do they have pay him?
dlbalr
So Brian how does that work? can they just tear up his contract and kick him out the door or do they have pay him? It's a mutual termination effective immediately. They don't owe him a penny and he immediately becomes a UFA (which is moot as he has a deal in place already in Switzerland). It's the same process they had with Alain Berger and Alexander Avtsin.

Machine of Loving Grace
It seems like there's still an odd divide between Hamilton and Montreal when it comes to our prospects.
