dlbalr
The Bulldogs (1-0-0-0) will look to make it two wins in a row to start the season as they play their first of way too many games against the Marlies (1-1-0-0). Michael Bournival will be in the lineup both tonight and tomorrow before being recalled back to Montreal. Jack Nevins will also be available to play after being activated off SOIR. (based on +/- data from previous games) Leivo - Kontiola - Smith Watling - McKegg - Abbott Broll - Carrick - Brown Devane - Vail - Orr Granberg - Marshall Holzer - Loov MacWilliam - Mikkelson Bibeau Bournival - Andrighetto - Hudon (I don't know who's playing C here) Sorkin - Hensick - Thomas Bowman - de la Rose - Tangradi Carr - Dowell - Dumont Bennett - Pateryn Drewiske - Nygren Finley - DietzMacDonald Puck drop is at 7:30 PM, AM900 will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen. JCPetit
When you look at the line up, there is definitely a big improvement over the last few seasons. I know that a lot of guys here have strong feelings against the coaches. I personally reserve my judgment for a couple of months. Let's say that if this team is not more exciting and doesn't win its fair share of games between now and mid-January, I will be among those who will doubt Lefebvre and Duchesne. Let's see what they can do.
dlbalr
The early lineup always looks like a big improvement on prior years as there usually aren't many injuries/callups. That said, this should be a better team than the past two seasons. I still don't like Lefebvre though.
DON
too bad Carr/Hudon split up, seems odd change?
dlbalr
too bad Carr/Hudon split up, seems odd change? It's early in the year, chemistry isn't as big of a deal in the minors and I'm sure they're going to want to test out a few different combos. dlbalr
Bournival didn't take long to make his mark, scoring at 6:01 of the 1st...or about his third shift of the game. 1-0 good guys after 1.
DON
Hudon with another point and Vail playing for TO eh Good to hear Pateryn & Bennett are back together
dlbalr
Hodon with another point and Vail playing for TO eh I haven't heard any of the game yet but based on his role, I don't think Toronto is counting on Vail to do much. He did survive a big wave of cuts the other day though so he must be doing something right.

dlbalr
Andrighetto snipes one over the glove of Bibeau on the PP to give the Bulldogs the lead. Bowman and Hudon get the assists.
DON
Andrighetto with PP goal, CH with 1 more point, great to see (hear)
dlbalr
During the 2nd intermission interview, Ellis noted that the team was so inconsistent last year that it's hard to place much of the blame on the coaching staff. That wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement when the question was along the lines of, it's good that the coaches are back this year?
DON
7 shots for Andrighetto Is Thomas even playing? Bennett looked like a pylon on 1st goal in last game (just watched highlights today).Welcome to pro hockey,
dlbalr
7 shots for Andrighetto Is Thomas even playing? I didn't hear Thomas' name much in that 2nd period. I didn't hear a lot of names in that period though...

dlbalr
Time for the new overtime format: 3 minutes of 4-on-4 followed by 4 minutes of 3-on-3, then the shootout.
DON
Got zero love for goofy shootout so maybe 3-on-3 will really help (I think thye just said is only 1 of 8 OTs went to shootout so far, encouraging) may have better luck tomorrow
dlbalr
At least they got a point, 3 out of a possible 4 to start the season is a pretty good start. http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1013490
miklin
agree with Don. Was there in our new seats in 125 (away from the groups). I can see the new OT format meaning a lot of games will be settled by breakaways in OT without having to go to a shoot out. I guess that's what the league wants but it's gimmicky for lack of a better word. Dry scrape of the ice seems to take a long time even with two Zambonis. Overall-size of the team has increased greatly. Interesting too how we've gone from a team with a lot of French Canadians to a team with a lot of Mid Western Americans. Once again, two much blue and white in the rink but if it keeps the Dogs solvent, so be it. A lot of new faces-customer service complete change over, Brianne Witty has left the merchandise part of the operation. Aaron the PA announcer unfortunately has turned into a cheerleader comparable to what has happened with CFL stadium announcers. 50/50 has gone from 3 tickets for $5.00 to 1 for $5.00!!! Looking forward to see the Wheeling Nailers play a game or two in Brampton but just a word of warning. Attended two games last year. Brampton ECHL prices are much higher for some odd reason than Hamilton AHL. To get a 25% discount, you must order ahead of time on line. Walk up will cost you around $35.00 for reasonable seats. The seats on the south side at Brampton are wider and more comfortable. Getting back to Hamilton. Expect traffic delays on weeknight games as the bike lobby is awfully strong in Hamilton and the city has taken two out of six lanes out of service for bike lanes on York Blvd. Last night it was backed up into Burlington so went via Dundas (York Blvd), Cootes Drive and Main St. Worked well except I was two feet away from nailing a deer right behind McMaster University. Hwy 6 southbound on to the 403 westbound was also badly backed up.

The less shootouts the better but 3-on-3 is another situation you seldom see in a typical game so it is a gimmick involving something outside of the ordinary course of play.
