TurdBurglar
Hope Wolvie continues to produce and snaps the Wolvie-DD-Cole line back in to last year's form. Hard to defend the other team's first line when they are throwing 2 first lines at you. Most people look at this game thinking it'll probably be an easy win for us, but history shows us that the easy to win games are the hardest. Hope they keep focused and get the job done. Habsfan
I know I said this before the Rangers game, but I got a bad feeling about this game. The islanders aren't a powerhouse...i'm afraid our boys will take them too lightly and get their asses handed to them by Tavares and his friends. Let's hope the new coaching staff will remind them that they can't take the Islanders lightly and that they,ll have to work just as hard to get the 2 points. I'm leery too, simply because the team hasn't played all that well the last couple of games. Neither team was great in New York on Tuesday while the Carolina game saw the Habs do little until the 3rd period. If they play like that again, they're bound to lose. (Or on the flip side, they're due for a good game after two so-so ones.)

Don't forget, even though we haven't come out of the gate strong, our defense kept us into every game since the Toronto embarrassment. It would help tremendously if we got a quick one or two, but overall our defense is playing top-notch hockey right now.
dlbalr
Courtesy of the Gazette, Andrei Markov will move into a tie with Craig Rivet for 29th place in all-time games played in a Habs jersey with 653.
dlbalr
More stats. The Islanders are a team that relies heavily on special teams - they are the only Eastern Conference team with a PP and PK% in the top-10. They also have a 0.67 for/against ratio for 5-on-5 play which puts them second last in the East and third last overall. (By comparison, the Habs are 4th in the league with a 1.40 5-on-5 F/A ratio.) For those who want a stat that doesn't involve ratios, New York leads the league in goals allowed.

habscout
Whew! Love the sound of the siren at the end of the 1st. Islanders were buzzing on the PP.
dlbalr
That was a much better first period for the Habs. They controlled the puck, drove the net...and of course scoring a couple helps as well. Something I think most on here will like - Galchenyuk is on pace to play around 15 minutes if he's used the same way in the 2nd/3rd (4:56 TOI in the 1st). On the surprising side, Markov has the lowest TOI of any d-man...on either team (5:24).
JMMR
That might be one of the best periods Ive ever seen the Habs play.
habscout
That might be one of the best periods Ive ever seen the Habs play. It was good, but I thought the 1st period against the Bruins was their best this season.
