No Subban... "obviously"...

If Canada leaves off Subban (which is highly rumored) I hope they lose, so they realize they can't ignore talent.

There is no way you can convince me that guys like Seabrook or Pieterangelo or even Weber are better than PK Subban.

Well, as you know, Pietrangelo is a much safer choice than Subban:

Also I don't think there's a defenceman in this league with more videos on YouTube of players hitting him hard.

Team North America? Who dreamt up this nonsense? Same guy who came up with 3 on 3 all star game I guys. I won't be bothered with it. Seems silly already.

He'll be on final roster

To be fair, the Habs are having a terrible year. No coach with every player in the league (of a nationality) at his fingertips is looking at the Habs right now and saying, "you know what, I want players from the Habs." The opposite of this effect is a guy like Brent Seabrook making these teams.

Subban might not make the team, who cares? Maybe I'm an American without a horse in the race, but I wouldn't mind seeing all the Habs he cut from this freeze dried tournament.

Pacioretty makes Team USA. 4 Habs in total have been named. For me, the biggest surprise was Galchenyuk's omission. I didn't expect Subban to get named but I expected Galchenyuk to be on the preliminary 16.

there is no good reason why an Elite player like Subban get left off this roster, none.

He is already ahead of an aging Weber and Vlasic in my books, I have no idea what Canada's problem is with Subban, but the fact he isn't among their top 4 yet is considered a top 5 d-man in the league by most is mind boggling.

Pacioretty makes it, Plekanec makes it, Markov makes it, Price makes it, Subban somehow makes people not want players from the Habs?

Chuck and Subban missing is silly to me.

Mind boggling is an understatement... Subban is better than most of those guys in a tournament like this especially.

Galchenyuk omitted is dumb as well...

It's not just Subban with Team Canada. Choosing Vlasic over Burns is stupid too.

Seems to be a pattern; low-risk and predictability trumps talent on a roster that's already brimming with talent.

Maybe Galchenyuk will be motivated by the doubters? Or does he have this type of mentality at all?

as if Subban couldn't keep things simple on a defensive squad where he doesn't have to be the Catalyst night in and night out.

That feeling of wanting to do too much would never be present when you look around on the bench and see Doughty, Keith, Weber, Seabrook and company. the guy is in the top 5 for Assists while on a team that can't score much, does anyone really think he wouldn't compliment the talent up front on this squad better than Vlasic and Weber? There would be no complex here, if Babcock sits him down and says he expects stable, efficient, and simple hockey in the defensive zone, Subban will not feel like he has to step outside the box to make something happen, everyone on this squad can make something happen.

it just cracks me up really, every GM in this league would give a body part to have Subban on their team, but team Canada seems to think it is perfectly acceptable not to pick him on the roster immediately after Doughty? insane...

Subban's offensive metrics are better than all 4 D on the team

but here's the kicker.

HIS DEFENSIVE METRICS are also better than all 4 D on the team.

Always appreciate your statistical approach to things, but in this case, even from a strictly observational perspective, it is already obvious to me this is stupid, and that in my eyes, only Doughty should probably rank slightly higher as a choice, with Subban the clear and obvious second choice.

Honestly I don't even know what to make of it

But he coughs up puck often making risky plays I guess is it? They likely also look at giveaways and of all the elite players (with many giveaways as are handling puck more...better BK?) Subban has been worst in NHL for 2nd year now.

But there also are a handful of super d-men from Canada so might not take much to be on the outside and maybe Mgmt still sees Subban as a risky player?

He would be on my team if I had to pick one; but, I hope he dosent make it and Price opts out also.

Why is Doug Armstrong the GM? St Louis fans hate that guy.

I think that may be the biggest question right there...

It's absolutely insane. You really have to wonder what they're thinking...and how much of it has to do with that lingering, subliminal racism that (IMHO) has clung to Subban since his entry into the league. 'He's not the "right" kind of player...not "our" kind of player...'

If he were white, would there be ANY doubt that he is among the very, very best defencemen in the game? Any doubt at all? I don't see it.

Subban gives money to charity off the ice, and has never had a single off-ice incident of any note.

Ryan Getzlaf was out past curfew and got into a bar fight while representing team canada at the world championships.

Drew Doughty was investigated (thought not charged) for sexual assault.

Of course one is the liability and too selfish for team canada. The other two are good old canadian boys with the leadership and character we want.

Its absolutely racism; subliminal yes, but there.
