How likely is it that Jiri Sekac will start in the lineup?

Wild guess, not likely.

But maybe after 5-10 games in Hamilton?

(but not even sure what wing he plays normally, nor what current Hab depth chart looks like at that position)

My guess is that it's highly likely he starts in Montreal. He stood out more than anyone else at development camp and as I said when they signed him, they didn't beat out half the league to get him to simply throw him in Hamilton right away. There's a chance that he may not be ready for full time NHL duty but unless he falls flat on his face at camp, he'll get an opportunity to prove himself right off the bat.

i'd say that it's very likely he'll be given every opportunity to succeed with the habs. he's already accustomed to playing against men in the khl...a league that may be more similar to the pace and size of the nhl than we think. therefore, i'll guess that he stays and contributes on a 3rd scoring line..that's right, the habs offense will be much deeper this season.

I'd say very likely.

He had 15 NHL offers and choose our team.

He was making $800K tax free in the KHL.... he'd make less than $100K in the AHL.

He knew this, he came over for an NHL job... just like Emelin and Diaz a few years ago when they left better paying jobs than the AHL behind in Europe.

As for wing... Sekac is a natural LW who can also play RW. Bourque is a natural RW who can also play LW. With that versatility, they can make lines.

Yeah, the circumstances of his signing pointed to him having a spot in the starting lineup on opening night, but most people have overlooked him when penciling in the forward lines. My guess is that he'll get 5-10 games each alongside Eller and Pleks to find some chemistry. He probably would be wasted on a fourth line.

I'm positive Sekac starts opening day on a line with Eller and Bourque.

Im positive Sekac and DLR make the team and Bork is shipped out to make room.

I guess maybe he has improved because he had to, he has worked hard to make the NHL, and that's what may give him what it takes to stay, awesome to hear you guys think he will stick with the Habs, that's what I wanted to hear! Maybe he is what will push Bourque to be all he can be, which would definitely fill any wing spot for the Habs, an inspired Bourque may bring a lot to the team, or more in a trade than a cup of coffee....

On paper, this is how I think MB sees it:

- Parenteau replaces Vanek;

- Malhotra replaces Briere;

- Sekac replaces Gionta.

If DLR or Andrighetto have an awesome camp, then I see Bourque being traded to make room. I'm 100% convinced Sekac makes the team otherwise he wouldn't have signed in Mtl.

yes, that is how I had understood the signings too and the press conferences seemed to confirm this.

But this seems to indicate that Sekac, Bourque, Moen, Prust and Bournival will be competing for four spots (one as the 13th forward), the competition can only be beneficial for the CH.

Yes last year he only had 11 fights, when he normally has around 20.

But, still tied for 12th most scraps in only 52 games.

I thought he was fine, but I know many were quite down on his play.

I love his grit & effort and seems like a very good 'buddy' for Galchenyuk to have on team.

Prust fought 11 times this year and 10 the year before. He fought so many times with NY because they didn't habe anyone else to. Not to mention the fact that Murray, Parros, and Tinordi were on the roster carrying some of the load this year.

Murray/Tinordi fought once each i think and Parros maybe had a couple?

And last year 10 was in 1/2 season so pro-rated to 20 and this year he only played 2/3 of the season.

So when he is playing he still fights as much as anyone in the league.

I just don't want to face the facts that Prust may start having injury trouble

May start having injury trouble? Since March of 2013, he has had six shoulder injuries (two of those costing him only one game, mind you) plus two other upper body injuries. I think it's time to face that fact. :)
