ICEWATER77
Mcdavid is taking slapshots now, and should be ready soon. Which Habs prospects will make their respective teams?
dlbalr
Canada - Fucale has already made the team. USA - McCarron will be going to their camp. Sweden - de la Rose will be there, pending getting loaned from Hamilton. Finland - Lehkonen has been named team captain. Slovakia - Reway will make their team easily.
ICEWATER77
Reway had a solid tournament last year too!

KoRP
Interesting that Fucale's competition has WAY better numbers, Zach is there because of his experience and to push the other guy maybe?
ICEWATER77
I'd think that the other goalies may come from much better teams than Halifax, that's all.
dlbalr
An update on de la Rose - Sweden's federation hasn't asked the Habs to loan him out yet. In an article from yesterday - linked on the main page - Sylvain Lefebvre noted that if he has his way, de la Rose will not be loaned out. For anyone wondering about his role, he has mostly been a 3rd line player (he is tonight, playing with Maxime Macenauer and Nick Sorkin) but has seen spot duty inside the top six. dlbalr
GM Marc Bergevin has confirmed @JacobdelaRose will be loaned to Team Sweden for the @IIHFHockey World Junior Championship.— Hamilton Bulldogs (@BulldogsAHL) December 11, 2014
Guest Stogey24
Interesting that Fucale's competition has WAY better numbers, Zach is there because of his experience and to push the other guy maybe? Fucale has had a sick team in front of him his entire career. May see his true colours this years
DON
Goalies are goalies and odd group, could be rookie of year and then a bum couple years later. I wouldn't bet on any young goalie becoming an impact player, Subban, Fucale, Jarry, Comrie who the heck knows which one got 'it', or if any of those do. KoRP
I thought I read it was just Fucale and Comrie at the camp? Maybe not.... Fucale has had a sick team in front of him his entire career. May see his true colours this years Might be we see that, but might just see that he is in fact pretty good too. It has been said about him that he has a great "goalie" mind/attitude, and a timely ability to make crucial saves to win games, and to face pressure with grace. I don't know, I've only ever seen a couple of games from him, but will be interesting to see how it works out for him, and us.
dlbalr
I thought I read it was just Fucale and Comrie at the camp? Maybe not.... It is just those two. My guess is that they'll split time in the preliminary round and exhibition games and the better one will go from there.
Commandant
Interesting that Fucale's competition has WAY better numbers, Zach is there because of his experience and to push the other guy maybe? Generally goalies in the Q have lower save percentages than goalies in the OHL or WHL. Seems to me they count more "shots" in those leagues. Things that wouldn't be counted as shots in the NHL get counted in the OHL for sure. I don't know how many OHL games i've been at and at the end of a game the shots are 50-35, and I'm like... woah... that game was not that wide open as the shot total would indicate. DON
Reway gonna play? Or is it beneath him to play with teenagers?
dlbalr
Reway gonna play? Or is it beneath him to play with teenagers? He has played three tune-up games already with the U-20 team (with 25 PIMS) so I suspect he'll be there and once again be a front liner. He's with the team currently as they get set to play the exhibition games.
Commandant
Most Euro leagues don't have this question about "will he be released for the world juniors"? If he's playing in Europe and his Junior team wants him, he will be allowed to go. Its like the CHL/NCAA in that way, they don't hold guys back. Only NHL/AHL is it ever a decision if an eligible player will be allowed to participate
ICEWATER77
when a jr eligible nhler is loaned to play in the wjc, he doesn't get paid for the 2+ weeks away, correct?
dlbalr
when a jr eligible nhler is loaned to play in the wjc, he doesn't get paid for the 2+ weeks away, correct? Correct. The player is technically not on the NHL roster at the time he's on loan so he doesn't get paid.
DON
Sounds like some are quite high on USA d-man Santini, who was one like Hagg, or McCoshen who should of been taken before McCarron. But Ive got a soft spot for d-men.
ICEWATER77
i'm guessing that it may not only be the decision of the nhl team when deciding whether or not to loan out a player? the player may not be willing to relinquish the paycheck? You never know but from what we've heard over the years when teams have to decide, it's management making the call as to what they think is most beneficial for the players' development. Because there's money involved, can the player be entirely objective? If not, I'd think management would take the decision out of their hands. dlbalr
McCarron was on the 6th line at US WJC practice earlier this week. That's likely not a good thing for him.

Surprised and a disappointed to hear that. Man he played a whale of a pre season game against the Bruins before getting hurt. Going to Canada Russia pre tourney game Friday eve.
