dlbalr
2 years, $5.6 million. There's the Gorges replacement.
Colin
Underrated, IMO, because he played in BF-Nowhere.

Habsfan
I like this move. The term isn't too long and he seems to be a big guy (6'2" and 210 pds) He also has decent stats!

The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Gilbert doesn't seem like a Gorges substitute for me. Better offence, worse defence. How physical is he - ?
Lovett's Magnatones
Gilbert doesn't seem like a Gorges substitute for me. Better offence, worse defence. How physical is he - ? He isn't...I've seen him in Florida for a lot of games. That's a lot of dough for a pp upgrade Markov-Subban Emelin-Gilbert Beaulieu/Tinordi/? hab29RETIRED
2 years, $2.8 M per. wow - that's a lot of dough for a guy who seems at least defensively a downgrade to gorges. Also a guy who's pretty much played his entire career for losers.

It didn't, because we've replaced him with what appears to be an inferior player. Be careful what you wish for.
sakiqc
I don't understand this signing. How is he different or can bring something better than Beaulieu?
Colin
I don't understand this signing. How is he different or can bring something better than Beaulieu? Beaulieu doesn't have the hockey brains.
Jeff Price (no relation)
I don't understand this signing. How is he different or can bring something better than Beaulieu? Right now, Bouillon is better than Beaulieu. (So actually, your question is still valid, just replace Beaulieu with Bouillon.)

KoRP
The difference between Gilbert and Gorges will be that Gilbert can actually move the puck out of his own zone.... Gorges is gonzo, get over the mediocre loss....
DON
Got to appreciate Gorges being pissed about being traded and for what he has done as a Hab. But, with several Left and Right Handed d-men, might even have Gilbert-Emelin pairing.

I'm hoping he will be a good pickup, but given his age and past history, i just don't see him even being an upgrade to even an inexperienced Beaulieu. Jeff Price (no relation)
I didn't say 70% of a loser. I said 70% of Gorges, who is great. 70% of Gorges is somewhat less than great, but still decent. Beaulieu has merde for brains.

A great example of "cap logic" being confused for hockey sense. If Gilbert is 70% as good as Gorges, we got 30% worse in the #4 d-slot. Not cool. If Gilbert is 70% as good as Gorges, we got 30% worse in the #4 d-slot. Not cool. We did. However, savings in cap space are not rated by how much you got worse in that slot alone, but also weighed in the balance with how much you got better with the extra money spent elsewhere. If we got 30% worse in #4 d-slot, but get 80% better at #1 right wing thanks to that money, it was worth it. (I love Josh Gorges. I would NOT have traded him. However, I believe for MB to dump his salary like this, he has to be gunning for someone big, still.)

No. He was the #4 guy on our team, like it or not. Now Gilbert is. Let that little nugget sink in.
