dlbalr
As I'm sure most of you have seen by now, our annual prospect rankings have been going up on the site over the past couple of weeks. Prior to revealing the top-10 (which should be sometime next week), the results of our reader vote (a new feature to our rankings this year) will be posted. If you haven't done so already, I'd appreciate it if you could take a moment and vote for your top-10. Feel free to add your thoughts/scouting reports on the players as some of the comments will be posted along with the result of the vote. Here is the link to the ballot: http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2906 As for when the next part of the series goes up (rankings 11-15), that will either go up tomorrow or on Saturday if anyone's wondering. Machine of Loving Grace
Probably the most shocking of that list is someone had Collberg at first, Thrower at second and Bournival at third,
dlbalr
Probably the most shocking of that list is someone had Collberg at first, Thrower at second and Bournival at third, Small spoiler alert but there's a doozy of a #1 selection you'll see in Part 2. If it weren't for the rest of the ballot making sense, I'd have thought it was a fake and tossed it but since the rest seemed legit, that pick is still in there. dlbalr
And Part 2 (Rankings 1-5) is up. http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=2919 Our top-10 will go up next week (yes, I know I'm dragging this out but with the lockout we need to make this series last a bit longer). dlbalr
Man someone trolled with Patyrn as their number 1 pick haha That's who I was referring to with the 'doozy of a pick' post. The rest of the picks made sense though so it stayed in.
Machine of Loving Grace
Nice to see the positive feelings on Gallagher. I'm tired of hearing about his size. The kid is a great player. End of sentence.

dlbalr
Let me be on record as saying (before you put your top ten out) that there is a glaring omission Who's that? Every prospect gets a ranking. Or are you saying someone ranked outside the top-10 should be there?

bbp
Yes on the last statement. Are you the one who put Greg Patyrn as the number one prospect
DON
Yes on the last statement. You thinking Bozon or Hudon? or Nattinen or Quailer? I think i may have skipped Louis Leblanc because i figured he isnt really a prospect anymore and if removed him i might have Bozon at #10; but still cant see any glaring omissions? I wouldnt of had Beaulieu in top 5, but top 10 for sure.
BlueKross
Are you the one who put Greg Patyrn as the number one prospect Very funny, but no. I thought it maybe good if the pollsters commented on the accuracy of the poll before our experts put their Top ten out there. To me there is an an obvious omission in the fan balloting. That's just my opinion.
DON
Interesting that fans and HW ranking of 6-10 was very similar, with only Bennett and Thrower being different from the 2 groups at #10.
dlbalr
I had thought there would have been a bit more of a gap in some of the rankings (Bournival/Kristo were at least flipped) but most people know who the top picks are, plus at least a couple of people who have well surpassed their draft spot. That alone takes it to 8 or 9 out of most voters' top 10.
BlueKross
Found the guy, you put him back aways and give your reasons. Thats Okay. I am still putting him in my top ten. unfortunely he is playing in Europe and we may never know.

BlueKross
Out of curiosity, who is it? Engqvist- Mind you I may be using a different criteria. My top prospects would be ones that have a serious chance to make significant contributions to the mother team . I am trying to balance the distance away from the team in terms of time and also talent. My top prospects may not have the most talent, but in my mind are closer to contributing at that level, if that makes any sense to you. I would remind you that even Plekenac argueably are best player was pretty underwhelming in his intial years. I understand these lists are objective

Yes, he has played in the NHL already and surely quite a few players ranked ahead of him won't. What worked against him was his (in my opinion) low ceiling and his age. Engqvist improved last year but at 24 (soon to be 25), the track record of players that age making it as a full-timer in the NHL is rather low. By your criteria, I can certainly see why he's up high as he has shown he is close to being ready now. I like the move to the KHL as it will force him to work on his deficiencies and if he can do so, I think he might still have a future in the league. DON
I think Engqvist could most likely be a solid 4th line centre and 3rd line would be his "ceiling", but still not a glaring omission for top 10 and maybe be 15-20th prospect? (just my estimation/ranking)

(just my estimation/ranking) Might be overstating , I would give you that. I think of guys like Kristo who are very skilled but to be of any value to the big club might have to crack the top six, which might be a huge stretch. Again using my criteria, a guy like Engqvist might be a safer pick to have significant playing time than a guy like Kristo who might be lost on the bottom six. Dlbair, I understand your logic, and I don't disagree. Just trying to explain my sentiments.
